Hi Everybody,

I look forward to learning and contributing.

Over the years I have blown up numerous accounts and made every mistake imaginable (and unimaginable), however, I would like to think that I have learned quite a bit during the process of (repeatedly) paying tuition.

I have settled into a strategy that suits my temperment, namely selling options on futures. While I have had success over the last few years, I know that I need to always be learning and improving and I hope to do that with all of you.

-Bill

Greetings all,

New to the site, upon registration - email was already used - click here for password reset. Hmm (reset password) came back to my old username "Greener" seems someone else was using it. Anyhow, self study for 10+ years mainly FOREX. Spent over 20K in courses, training, indicators, trading systems etc. Everything just became a muddled mess. One thing contradicts another but this is the way to go, mine way is better etc.. etc.. etc.. OMG I know I'm not the only one. Finally discovered emini. Going to study some more and hopefully pick up some great learning experiences from everyone here. Take care, good trading and hope to make a few friends.

Hello everybody

I've come here in search for a community where I can learn more about trading futures without shuffling through the trolls and bullsh%t. There's a lot of it out there and so far this forum is a breathe of fresh air! Eventually I'd like to start my own journal and grow into a profitable trader.

Hey all!

I don't know, really, if people come to this particular thread often. But, I am new to trading in general. Been doing a lot of research over the past few months, and decided that futures seems to be the best route for me (both based on personality and initial capital). I am more than open to hearing everyone's advice and criticisms. Just here to learn with all of you, lurk a bit, and post when I have questions. Thank you all in advance, and I can't wait to meet you guys and gals!

Hi All,
I am a professional engineer with no formal training or experience trading futures. My trading experience is limited. I have been trying to learn for a few years, mainly by reading books and/or articles. I am not yet at the stage where I can go live, my goals for the forum are to start a journal and begin applying consistent effort to paper trading, making a daily time commitment and sticking to it. At the moment I do not have a computer so will be limited to viewing the forum on a phone/tablet. But once this temporary setback is overcome I will be able to download a charting package and start a journal.

I hope to contribute to the forum and learn what I can from the more experienced members.

Thanks for your time

MW

Hello,
my name is Clance and I haven't used futures.io that much but am still new to futures.io

I am an Online Trading Academy Student.
I am looking for a mentor who can help me grow my knowledge and become a profitable futures trader.

I am running into two issues.
1. is lack of capital and
2. is lack of direction (would like to meet friends who have had success and have the same interest as I do. Unfortunately I do not know anyone in the area of Seattle who are full-time futures traders.)

I have been trying to quit my current career path for almost 4 years now and just have not had success at breaking the barrier to entry of becoming a full time trader. I have blown up a couple accounts and now lack capital.

THOUGHTS:
The capital issue I was considering joining a Prop firm like Savius or TopStepTrader. I also figured that being 1099 under a business licenses is much more beneficial than trading my own money in a business license due to the risk of not qualifying as "Trader status" under IRS regulations. There is no set guidelines which leaves everything up in the air.

With the 1099 status I can write everything off and act as I am a consultant.

WHO I AM:
I am someone who is willing to whatever it takes. I thought I could do this on my own, but realized I need help from others to succeed in this business.
So I am reaching out to see if anyone is willing to help me become a full-time trader. I am so close to making this happen I can feel it. I have a trade plan and I just need a helping hand to get me through this.

MY CURRENT STYLE OF TRADING:
I love longer time frames. I love trading off of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly charts
but realized that it is not possible with Prop Firms. I love the longer time frames Just because it takes away a lot of the emotions daily volatility emotions.

I am willing to adapt and make needed changes.

Thank you for reading this. I am forever grateful for you taking your time to read this.

WELCOME!

The lack of capital is going to be the BIG problem. Even if you find a money making strategy, which is difficult, random fluctuations with a small account could wipe you out before long term averages (positive expectancy) take over.

Think of the house in Vegas - what if they could only stand to lose a small amount of money before they closed their doors? Some lucky gambler would get on a hot streak and ruin them, yet they had long term numbers and probability on their side.

If you have less than $25K to part time trade with, my advice is to not trade until you have at least that amount. During that time, you can study, develop strategies, practice, etc - all things you need to do anyhow.

If you want to trade full time, you need a ton more than that. A good rule of thumb is that you probably will need 2x-3x the amount you think you need!

As far as a mentor, etc. make sure to check vendor threads on this site, ripoffreport.com, tradingschools.org etc. Do your due diligence. Most trade rooms are scams, and the CFTC has been busting more and more of them lately. The adage "it if sounds too good to be true, it probably is" definitely holds with trading vendors.

Good Luck!

What is your take with Prop Firms?

Such as Savius or TopStepTrader providing up to 150k accounts to trade. That was the direction I was planning on going after blowing up a few accounts.

I've never done that (I did a few TST combines, but never any funding with them). They probably don't teach you how to teach, and that is what you need to focus on first.
