My first post! And a little bit of my experience with trading...

In the past, I mean during the hay days of Nasdaq (yes, last 90's) I traded mostly stocks and then moved on to options. When the market was doing well, you could pretty much buy any high growth stock and see it rise and rise some more. Needless to say, all of that was a good ride until the Nasdaq bubble burst and changed my outlook towards trading. Indeed it was a very humbling experience, consequently and reluctantly submitted to professionals to manage investments of stock(s) etc.. Trading account flattened and ego brutally bruised. I only made one promise to myself that I would come back to trading better educated at a later unknown date.

Fast Forward to 2016...

In hindsight, I think it was a good decision to let the professionals manage the money including 401k, because I don't know how good or badly I would have fared during the 2008 meltdown! On the other hand, real estate investments have done well and managed to recover the stock losses suffered during Y2k crash

Changing personal situation and need for added flexibility with time on a daily basis, I realized that it's time for me to come good on my promise made to myself. I had been reading about futures markets (NQ, CL, ES and GC) and made some excellent gains during the last few weeks (I guess it must have been sheer timing) due to the black swan event - Brexit.

Now, I must have run out of new bee luck! Last few weeks have been rough trading CL and ES, so I am back to the drawing board.

I have been researching various products / services i.e paid signals and indicators that can help make money $$'s and soon coming to the assessment that there is no short cut to success (I know success - that's subjective) in this business.

On the bright side, this site has been of immense help towards reaching the above conclusion. The numerous posts and genuine experiences posted by other members have saved me plenty of time and $$'s i.e. without them I may have continued trying to research by enrolling / subscribing to paid services and or products! Based on the reviews, I have shortlisted a few products and services I intend to try over the next few weeks and months. I look forward to sharing my experience with them. Stay tuned..

A genuine thanks to Big Mike and other members of the community for sharing your experiences with various products and services. Any suggestions and advice to hasten the journey is very welcome! Cheers

Hello,

Kevin here, traded old fashion way in the 80's using Charles Schwab, trading mostly GC in the open out cry pits. I was consistent as long as I was sitting in front of computer, lots of hours, small profits. I then lost subscription to live data and turned my account over to an account manager, who promptly lost me $14,000 in three days. Thought my trading days were over for good, but I have recently opened an account with Ninja Trader and am amazed at all the new toys to play the game with. I am in the process of creating a new trading strategy for myself and have been consumed with that process lately. Look forward to learning anything I can here.

Thank You,
Kevin

Hello,

My name is Quinn and I'm a 20 year old college student. I'm studying computer science/engineering and I'm interested in developing my software skills to create trading systems. My goal is to learn enough to quit my future job early and trade full time. I've been sim trading for 6 months now and have seen good results. Excited to check out the forum.

Quinn

Hello everyone.

I'm interested in exchanging ideas and methods of trading particularly on my favorite futures: mini SP500, mini Nasdaq and Eurostoxx50.
In my trading I don't use any indicators, except Bollinger bands that I use only as reference for volatility.

In short, my trading is focused on using the Market Profile and Volume Profile to identify Key Levels and scenarios; and analysis of DOM, Order Flow, Footprint to entries & exits. Duration of Trades: between few seconds to 10/15 minutes.

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

i was a former forex trader but in my country (Belgium) its now illegal to trade in forex.
I was after 2 years of trading getting proffitable.
Everyday i was learning.
And then Binary options, CFD's and forex was banned in my country.
That was a blow to me because i loved it and ok my acount grew to about 1000€ it wasnt that big but i was compounding and i was dreaming to get a pro in a few years. Not with 1K offcourse but this was me practicing with real money.

I was searching for a new product to trade. Stocks is to expensive (comissions,...) And someone told me about futures.
I am papertrading them now to learn because there are somewhat more things to think about when you are trading them instead of forex.

I am doing good in paper trading and now i am saving up to start live.
I hope to learn from others and maybe i can learn other people some things (who knows )
I have a lot of questions so see you on the forum.

Gunther
