Greetings from the beautiful state of Colorado in the USA!

My longtime quest to become a trader has recently led me to this amazing website. I have dreamed of trading the markets ever since I was in high school. My vision was mostly on the back burner until I bought a mentoring course and started dabbling in options in 2007. After making just about every trading mistake in the book, I quit out of fear but managed to keep my account mostly intact. I was fortunate in that I had enough foresight to keep a journal of all my trades. My journals weren't the greatest and at the time I didn't fully appreciate their value until much later. The biggest lesson I learned (among many) was that I had grossly underestimated what it takes to become a successful trader. I'm finding this experience to be common among traders and it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

I took a long hiatus from trading but the lure of the markets recently called me back. I messed with Forex a bit but ultimately discovered futures are where it's at for me. I was turned off by the noise, big spreads and lack of a centralized market in Forex and I couldn't handle the longer term market exposure required to trade options spreads. I'm still with the mentoring program I started with initially but I've recently come to realize that strategy and mentorship are only the beginning. The secrets to true trading mastery lay within the mind and long term success can only be attained though hard smart work by the individual.

I now approach trading as an art, craft and skill to master just like any musical instrument, sport, martial art or discipline of study in school. I believe the resources on futures.io are what I need to propel me to the next levels and beyond. I also believe the opportunity provided by Topstep trader is exactly what I've been seeking. After much research, reading and watching videos I've come to realize that if I can't pass a combine, I have absolutely no business trading my own capital.

My primary goals of trading are freedom and an improved life for me and my family. I ultimately hope become a better person and eventually pass my knowledge on to my children. And with a baby on the way I'm more motivated then ever before. I relish in tedious hard work and endless preparation and I can't wait to see where this trading journey leads me.

Good trading everyone!

Hi all, looking forward to sharing ideas and anything else trading related that comes to mind. I've tried a bit of everything over the last decade - shares, properties, CFDs, buy & hold, trend following & so on. Now looking to refine all this into a more disciplined trading approach. Have read a lot around systematic trading, and tried some basic back-testing etc, so want to progress a bit further down this path. All the best.

Hi,

New trader here. Yep you're probably thinking, "Great fresh meat. Let's fade whatever this guy does." Anyway I'm just getting my feet wet. I've decided to get TradeStation. My background is in math and risk quantification. I used to work as an actuary but didn't like it because I didn't feel like I got to make decisions or be creative. I'm hoping that I'll enjoy trading and have some success. Feel free to recommend others or tell me to stay away from some. I'm currently reading a ton of books. Hi traders,

Quite a beginner, I trade intra day & swing. Blew up account for last 3 years and now slowly breaking even. Firmly believe in Van Tharpe's "R Multiple" theory for position sizing. Looking for fresh perspective on trading psychology and also quantified trading system which will think in terms of "R". Yet to overcome fascination of Holy Grail and still looking for one, but enthusiasm has faded away. Want to focus more on JOURNAL as Big Mike says.

Like most day traders, I blew up my account a couple times and lost enough money to make most grown men weep.

Hello Mike and to all, I took the liberty of"copying" your text as those words fit me also!
Green as grass to Futures but that is why I'm here to educate myself .
Glad to find your site and eager to explore.
Thanks...David...
