Hello Traders,

I have been trading on and off in the futures since 1998. My account had been wiped out many time. I stopped trading 8 years ago because I kept losing money. The last 8 years, I spent lots of time in the poker room. It was good experience. I decided to make a comeback to the world of futures trading. I signed up with NinjaTrader one month ago. I was the TradeStation user for years. In the past 30 days, I still lose money. Apparently, my main problem is ME. I hope this forum will help me to be a disciplined and successful trader. I look forward to it.

Thanks.

Elijah

I started trading right out of college. After blowing up my account, I got a job and have been successful at it. I kept trading on and off in the years since and am now in a position to make it happen full time. I have learned A LOT so far... but understand I have a lot more to learn as well.

Big Mike - I watched this forum grow from tiny to what it is today... and I have finally given in and joined. Thank you for putting it all together. Fantastic job.

Hi,

I have been fascinated by the futures markets since I discovered them about 10 years ago. I am currently trading binary options, expect to start trading futures in my ira soon. I read articles and post on the forum for a couple of years, never participated due to time constraints, which have eased for me a little bit.
I use ninja trader- I consider myself a beginner, I don't know how to use a lot of the automatic functions yet. My futures broker is global futures, but I expect to change to Midland so that I can trade in my IRA. Binary options through Nadex.
I trade the ES and 6E, other futures contracts only through Nadex.
I concentrate on price action, use patterns as set ups for entry, use various types of volume indicators to figure out support and resistance, I check the cash market also through stock charts.com. I am finding I need to keep my charts really simple so that I can really concentrate on the trading decisions.
Strengths- love trading, fascinated by charting have a little knowledge of statistics. Weakness, crummy record keeper, sporadic on journal, working on that.

This looks like a terrific forum, it's been helpful in the past, I wish I'd had the time to participate sooner. If this is a duplicate, sorry, I think the irst on went into cyber space...
Hello to you all!
Jenne

Hello! Greetings everyone!

I am a resident of Ohio. I have been interested in trading for the past 10 years and started with trading equity. I no longer trade equity because I find fascination with the Futures markets (specifically CL and GC).

I am aiming to incorporate simplicity in trading. I find trading gives me a lot of stress and headaches at times and so my aim is to develop simplicity in my strategies and make the whole experience a rewarding process. I am also learning that my biggest weakness is DISCIPLINE in trading! and I am prioritizing fixing that!

This looks like a wonderful forum and I looking forward to interacting with you all.

Hello again!

Hi,

Finally I have some time to start trading. I am 57 and have been busy all my life working and that did not allow me to get serious about trading. I have invested for a long time and nibble here and there with trading futures.

Now I have the time and hope to learn and make trading my job. I like mainly futures and plan to stay there.

Thanks a lot to Big Mike and all contributors for all the advise and tools on this site.

Luis.

Investigating ES. Using NT 7. Not yet trading for money. Trying to get an understanding of terms and how the market looks on a daily basis. I'm computer oriented so I was attracted to your site due to the number and amount of posts that help with the NT programming environment.

Perhaps sooner than later I'll feel comfortable to actually put a dollar on the table. From everything I read however, it's a real good idea to do paper practice until some profitable trading consistency is evident.

Hallo to all traders around the world. It had been 5 years I started reading and learning about trading. As a novice I had quite big expectations and hadn't any clue about the market structure, psychology, buyers and sellers interaction etc.So I started with basic patterns as 123 low/high,RH breakout, trendlines and bunch of indicators such as ema,%R,RSI and so on.After 3 years of backtesting but still without solid trading plan I opened my first trading account.I didn't even know what system I going to trade so I started loosing money and my confidence. After 30% drawdown I stoped trading and took a week off. What I realized was that if I want to make trading for living I will have to change my mind .So instead to follow all old fashion patterns based on the past I started looking for something what shows me where is price going to stop and take opposite direction and where are buyers and sellers jumping to the market before 95% of traders recognize this and position myself in a good advance.
This was really big breaking point in my trading and I started study S/R levels, volume profile and footprints. After years of disappointing I realized that trading is starting making sence to me.I wrote down my trading and simple money managment plan.Started sim trading with Sierra charts and first couple of weeks I wasn't able to make some solid profit but at a same time I wasn't even loosing money as I used to do before.I was studing footprints and nature of market every day till late night and starting improve my trading.I'm still not ready to go live again unless I'll be able to make 6 weeks profitable and complete my trading plan. This is my story probably very similar to mostly of novice traders but I'm really happy I lost some money becouse if I didn't I wouldn't been here today and trying to introduce myself.
I would like to make friends here and start chating with people about the trading and try to improve myself and you guys as well.

Peter.

I've been lurking here a long time and thought I better introduced myself. I've been interested in trading and investment for more than 15 years having made a little money from stocks but what intrigued me to this day is day trading futures for a living. I've also set up a few live accounts for trading IB, AMP to name a few. They are still there till I feel I'm ready to trade live but all this while I have been trading in simulation just break-even or sometimes losing a bit of fake money! It’s not the same as others would have said none of the emotions and psychology involved. A bit maybe but I've yet to blow up a live account! Off and on I've studied technical anaylsis, Gann, Fibo, financial astrology and other market wizards and my home has a library of finance books, magazines and not to mention an abundance of trading knowledge online, all the plots of being a successful trader.
This forum is a great place for like-minded traders and those who attained to be one!

I have been interested in trading since the 2008 crash (I made a decent return despite knowing nothing about trading riding the 2009 wave up with blind luck). In 2013 I seriously started learning about technical analysis starting with Elder, and moving on to Williams, Elliot Wave, Fibonacci, Indicators. I currently am self employed, and have freed up time in the morning to trade in the hopes of making this a real part of my career/income.

The small amount of trading rooms I've tried seemed like they knew little more than me when trading live, and none of their methods resonated with me. This was the first site I saw that seemed to give true reviews of trading rooms. After reading this site for months I found Price Action Trading, and bought Al Brooks' course. This was the first thing that made any sense to me, as I believe he paints a realistic picture of the market-anything can happen, nothing is certain.

I have been paper trading since 2013 on IB, but recently moved to Tradestation in order to use tick charts. I started trading equities, but find the futures market much more interesting. My first attempt at trading was looking for high volume bottle rocket stocks (intraday), but searching for them seemed to be too hard. I like the idea of focusing on one or two markets, and learning how they move. I started looking at the NQ, the ES, but have found Crude Oil to have a much better feel. I also like Gold as it seems to trend more than the indicies, but that may just be what I have seen recently.

I still don't have a trading plan, but have started to actually make (fake) money some weeks, where in the past I have only lost it and moved to another approach. I'm hoping that gaining experience on the simulator will give me the confidence to trade IRL, and allow me to develop a trading plan (I definitely need discipline at this point). So my goals are:

1. Learn as much from other's experience documented here
2. Learn as much from simulator trading with draft plans
3. Build the confidence to trade with real money
4. Ride into the sunset with bags of money!
