Hi, I am as green as a lime when it comes to trading. I have no idea where to start or what to trade. I'm 55 yo and figured maybe I might learn something new to help me invest in my future. Any pointers is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. There seems to be a wealth of information on this site and I pray it doesn't overwhelm me. CHEERS to learning to trade!!

Yes! It's not to late, turn around and run away as fast as you can!

My advise is to study those charts over and over again, and re-program your mind that when you are losing money its considered in investment not a lose, you will be doing a lot of investing in your new business and quit a bit. Money management is one of many and I think the most important key to help you open the doors for success in this business. No money no business!

New to trading. Doing a lot of research. Like learning a new language. Someone recommended this site and a couple of others have not spent much time here, but may in the future. Basically plan a playing the USD/Cad. Good Luck to all and thanks for any guidance and hot tips.

reason why I want to trade: SOME DAY become independent and work for myself.

I KNOW THIS IS A MARATHON, AND NOT A SPRINT !

Looking forward to learning from everyone!

Hi Everybody,

I’m a beginner, but not quite new to trading. Was trading decently during 2002 and then recession hit and started to loose, so I guessed I was doing well simply because almost everything was going up those days. I was going long only.

For various reasons I stayed away for many years. Bought MetaStock 11 a while ago and later upgraded to rev12. Watched a good amount of tutorials, back tested some of the preloaded systems, played with modifying them, but basically never applied it for trading and then neglected it for at least one year. Few days ago decided to get back to work and finally use it.

I started by reviewing some old tutorials and checking some new ones and found a video presentation by Barry Burns of his top Dog trading method. Trying to find more about his method, I discovered this forum and here I am hoping to even find answers to questions I don’t have in mind yet.

The information here is overwhelming; one needs discipline and time to get some sense out of it. Looking for direction.

Thanks,
Corto

Hey all, my names Lorraine Pierce, and I've been interested in trading for YEARS!

Tried last year, but did NOT put in the time needed in studying and learning. Lost a few hundred and quit.

So this year I decided to learn as much as I can before losing money!

I have the 3 legs of my trader stool secure:
1. Pscychology - it's not a casino. I'm not giddy and pulling the handle every 5 minutes.
2. Strategy - I have a written strategy that I am testing with certain indicators and time frames.
3. Money/Risk Managment - I'm using demo accounts right now, but will only risk 2% of my money per trade once I'm using real money. I'm doing this now with my demo.

I'm happy to be here on the forum and hope to learn a lot and be able to give back.
My journey has just begun.

One thing I think that is important in trading is your "Why?"

Why am I doing this? Why bother?

My "WHY" is that I want to earn 100k to build a home for my 2 adult sons that have mental retardation. They are technically my step sons, but I'm their guardian and the only mom they've ever known. I raised them from ages 3 and 4.
My goal is to build them a home in our neighborhood that they can call their own. They moved out of my house about a year ago, and although it's a great home with full time staff, it's just not the same as being in the neighborhood where they have friends and family.

God knows my goals and my heart. And I pray that he leads me to the right strategy and mindset to make this work.

Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm your generic wannabe trader looking for information to help me in my quest.
A few guys may recognize the permanent trial member on topsteptrader, yeah - that's me alright.
I'm here looking for resources that may help me achieve what I want.
As for the why?
I'm doing what little have been able to accomplish.
Make money while being a starved monkey. Wish me luck!
I'll be asking a lot of questions, so stay tuned.
