Hi, I've been trading off and on for 30 years, mostly Mutual funds, etf, stocks. Just started exploring options, and day trading SP500 Emini futures. Having some fun getting accounts set up in Canada for Futures Trading!

Currently trying to develop an income stream to avoid having to go back to the mind crushing bleed you dry corporate world.

Been here off and on. Decided to introduce myself.

I am into technical analysis, stock selection ideas, and so far the best edge and leading indicator I have found is the use of median lines, or pitchforks.

I also aim to improve my skill in Timing, Money Management, and Emotional Control.

Right now, I independently trade stocks and options.

Hello Big Mike, Hello Traders,

I have been studying to become a trader my whole life and I did not even know it This is a community that I hope to continue to build with and help continue to build. With prior experience in equities, I am new to futures and currently learning and practicing only one simple clean method based on 555 tic charts using keltner chnls paired with extra smooth ema's for entry and exit points. At times fib ext where needed for retracements and targets.

I trade mainly the ES right now and will not change until I master (in my own opinion) the ES even though the temptation is always around.

Like Big Mike, I also believe the following:
I will not add any new indicators, methods, nor oscillators or such to my trading because keeping your charts clear and focus on structure is where I believe the strength in ones consistent trading patterns lie. I will develop myself to consistency by learning from everyone here and helping those that I can help along the way.
Thank you all for the future support and the resources you provide to the community!

Tried my hand at trading ES contract in 2009 after taking a course on the internet. Did okay at first but got a bored with it and started inventing my own rules....or no rules at all....just seeing what would happen. Did this for about 3 months and shut it down and started trading leveraged ETF's and have been ever since. Thinking of re-opening a future account and getting back into it. Dave

Hello,

I go by "DJ" in my everyday life.
I am a university freshman, studying business management and planning to focus on quantitative finance.

I began trading in the second half of my senior year of high school. I started slow, reading books by Graham on value investing. That was until I met a trader who was enjoying more than moderate success (at such a young age, he was a junior in the same high school).
Because of my exposure to him and his experience, I ditched the investing literature and immediately purchased a good money's worth of trading literature. I started off of John Carter's "Mastering the Trade: 2nd Edition" and then I moved onto the "Trading Price Action" Trilogy by Al Brooks. I was cutting class, skipping entire days of school, neglecting my social life, and performing major reorganization of priorities all to study, learn, adapt and evolve into the trader that I wanted to be.

My strategy at this point has become purely whatever price action knowledge I have gathered from Al Brooks.
I was originally a day trader, focusing on the 5m and 1h timeframes but because of time constraints that university life has placed on me I am now a swing trader on the 1d and 1w timeframes. My preferred instrument is the stock option although I would like to learn commodities and other derivatives.

I hope to consume and incorporate as much knowledge as I can from this forum.

Best,
DJ

Hi everyone,

Me... I'm a wife and daughter of a 3rd grader. I've been interested in day trading for about 5 years and just pulled the trigger. (New Years Rez). I Opened up an account w Ninjatrader brokerage. I am interested in the emini markets, and I sim-traded for a couple weeks and did really well. I started live trading last monday and was up and down a couple hundred bucks and finished down $212 yesterday. I am not looking to get rich, I would just like to make some additional household income. I'm reading a ton of material and watching youtube vids. I am a sponge for info right now. As a beginning trader I'm aware that I am vulnerable to lots of stuff and I am just trying to avoid as many mistakes as possible. I want to weed out as many bad decisions as I can. LOL! Here is what I've been looking into.

1. What are the best book/books/videos/articles to understanding Charts? (support, resistance, best indicators)?
2. I would like to sit in on a great live trade room. Which ones are legit and best? (currently doing a couple free trials w Rios tradelab and viewmytrades.com)

I appreciate any help I can get from you guys that have been doing this for a while. What advice would you give to yourself if you could go back? haha.

Thanks and God Bless,
Laura
