Hello All,

MI am a retired Real Estate Developer now living in Costa Rica & this is my first first post. I have limited trading experience in a variety of markets, just enough to realize that I can use all the help that I may find.

Many thanks to Mike for providing such a constructive platform for learning and obtaining meaningful information.

The best of trading for all.

Richard.

Hey all,

Nearly 50 and doubt I'll be handed the keys to the corner office any time soon, so I've been trying to learn how to make money by options and trading over the last year or two with mixed success. Like probably everyone, I'd love to tell the Man to kiss my arse, but I'd settle with paying off my debts and having enough left over to help some other people out.

I've put all my old 401k's into a Scottrade account and did well enough to rob it to alleviate some unexpected expenses last year and still keep maintain what I started with. I tried doing options with $1,800 in a pre-tax account with OptionsXpress and it's nearly wiped out. I had enough success to make me believe it can be done, but couldn't overcome about 8 loser trades in a row. I'd like to restart that effort, but I want some confidence that I can make it work.

I've moved some of the 401K into an Interactive Broker's account, so I'm familiar with three brokerages at this point. IB is definitely the cheapest, but I don't have enough liquid assets to trade options with the 401k.

I hope to learn something - be happy to share what little I know.

Been trading on and off for nearly a decade. Threw the towel a few times during this endeavor. I feel too invested in trading now to ever stop. Hopefully I get it right.

I'll be frank; I'm not trading to make a living, I'm trading to make a killing!

Hi All!
Trading started as a hobby to me 5 years ago, now I'm considering to trade full time at home in Budapest, Hungary. I like futures (mainly intraday, FDAX, CL, ES, GC), started with stock options recently, and also exploring EasyLanguage to automate trade management and test some concepts. Over the past years I was searching for information on various trading related topics and I found the most useful answers on this forum (thanks!), this is why I joined. Hopefully I can also contribute with useful information to others in the future.

hello to all,

first off: this is a wonderful site and pleased that i found it. MB's has many knowledgeable member's.

i have a request. i'd like to become a day trader using price action. i've read most of the forum and each thread for price action trading and found it to be a great resource. i understand that studying trading or simulation trading and actually applying it with real $$$$ are completely different.

i am looking for a simple trading platform, data feed and a solid broker with reasonable commissions. wall street is a shady deal to begin with and would not want my account with someone who may skip town with it. my question is this; any suggestions on how to go about this.

also, i finally started studying al brooks. i'm certain his methods are solid. however, for me, i have a hard time fully understanding his explanations for the trades and their setups. should i give it more time or anyone have someone else to suggest looking at?

in conclusion, i must say that brett steenbarger's book - become your own trading coach - is one of the best trading psychology books i have read. trading in the zone, by mark douglas and elder's trading for a living - imho, are other reads worth mentioning.

thanks in advance.

Hello all,

After trading equities for about 9 months, I have recently switched my trading pursuits to focus on futures. I have spent the past three months researching and beginning to develop an automated trading strategy for the ES. The learning and progress has been continuous, and recently greatly enhanced by the extensive information found on futures.io (formerly BMT). I look forward to learning/collaborating with you all in the future.

Josh
