Hi!

For several years I have been developing my Ninja Trader automated trading system on the Forex. Now I am trying to develop any similar to the ETF or Futures market.

In the first step I look for historical tick data...

Hi Everyone!

I've been "investing" for years with mutual funds, etc but decided I'd like to take a more active approach in looking after my financial interests. So I don't have much to offer as far an experience but I'm here to hopefully learn a few things. This site is a great resouce!

Hard to find a decent, open, honest site for traders and glad to be here. Part SIM, part live for 3.5 years now. Discovering the power of self awareness and psych control as I trade. Didn't know a long from a short when I started. What a ride!!! Undaunted, I pursue personal growth while refining the trade plan/rules.

Love to meet some SoCal traders who work the Russell index. Or from anywhere, for all it matters, Skype or just audio works.

Worst mistake I ever made??? My first pull-o-the-trigger went green. Boy, does that give you the wrong mindset!! Downhill for nearly 2 years afterwords. But I've come a long way, through all the bad trainers and BS, and if I can focus on following the trend instead of bucking it (I have a counter trend jones), I'm off to the races.

Open to any contact, good luck in your trading, and Thanx again, Mike.

Vaughn

Hello all!

I'm relatively new to trading, I've been studying for about 6 months but seem to have hit a brick wall, was hoping by joining I could learn more from people who know!

Thanks

Ben.

Hey everyone,

I've been successfully/unsuccessfully trading for several years now, meaning that I do personally feel that I've developed a very good feel for the markets over that time, but have not implemented a solid plan and discipline to take advantage of that knowledge. My biggest weakness in the past has been going in with big size after a loss, trying to recover it immediately. I honestly feel I need constant reminders from myself and others not to do this!

Just turned 30 this year, and that really puts into relief all the money one has blown on trading. I'm vowing not to do that again, to trade less, and only use the best set ups. I came to the realization that even if only averaging 2-3 ES points a week over a long period of time, your account will build up enormously within just a few years.

After years of volatile stocks, options, etc., I've now come to the ES as my primary instrument. If other futures are moving big one day, sure, I'll take some off the top, but my hope is to become a solid trader, gradually building up size, and so I'm focused on ES so that some time in the future when I'm using larger size I can still execute my strategies without moving the market (soybeans, anyone?).

Looking for a 9:30am EST to about 11am trading buddy, too, via Skype to actually talk with (not chat online) about the markets. Tried to private message someone but not allowed just yet :-) A few more forum posts and hopefully I'll be able to connect with some people here for that! Thanks, everyone, for reading, and Big Mike, for the forum.

Hello Mike and fellow traders.

About 13 years ago, I started trading by having a broker day trade one of those well advertised software programs that has won many years in a row. Big Mistake, lost lots of my hard earned money. Then I left my day job, because I did not like the conglomerate that bought us out. So, about 10 years ago, I started trading again on the ES with the guiding hand of a well self advertised gurus course. Lost again. Went back to work. Made some more of that hard earned money, while looking at charts for 4 years without trading. Left that job, and my first year I lost a little, the next year, I lost a little less, and last year was the first year that I made money. Not much, but still in the black. And so far I am in the black this year, but have a long ways to go. Still flinch on taking trades. My trading platform really helped me learn to be patient as it seems to be able to set for more realistic fills. Before with another platform, it always filled the simulator in the first or beginning contracts that were hit. As anyone knows, you are one of the last to be filled, not the first, if you are only a few ticks away on your entry.

I would like to learn the market profile method of trading with the CL, ES, ZN, and ZB. Not sure if anyone else works with the slower moving high volume markets, but I think it would help develop myself in the learning process.

Hello All, I've been paper trading for a month so far, while concurrently taking a class on day trading, which I have found to be very informative and has proven to be very effective when using what I've learned while paper trading in the daily market replay, etc., though, I know it's different when you go live. I've gone from knowing ZERO about day trading, to beginning to have a foundation by paper trading daily and studying strategies and practicing them, etc. I'm on NinjaTrader. My goal is to go live in another two months trading futures. Hope to further my knowledge here with the people in this forum.

Hi to all,

I have been paper trading for a couple of months on NT. I'm still on a learning curve, but I am in the lucky position to have an experienced mentor helping me get started. I would never have touched futures trading without his help. I hope to go live in the next couple of months.

My reasons for getting into trading: being your own boss & having flexible hours that allow me to do more of the stuff I love (cycling mostly!). I don't have any great expectations of making a killing, but hopefully it will beat minimum wage! It is also a good intellectual and mental challenge: Just you against the all-knowing market.

I hope to learn from the many contributors to this forum, hopefully allowing me to avoid making the classic beginners mistakes, and eventually to be able to contribute too.
