Hi All,
I have been trading for about 5 years. I guess I would label my quest the search for the holy grail. For the longest time (and maybe still a little) I felt there had to be a system that I could follow that would be the be-all and end-all to investing success. I tried Vector Vest for two years but eventually concluded that it may work great in backtesting mode, but in real time it's not the cat's meow. Somewhere along the way I got into mostly trading options. First buying and more recently selling. I took one of Dan Sheridan's courses. I thought I had found the system I was looking for. I had reasonable success with credit spreads, not so much with iron condors where I seemed to be constantly getting hammered by the relentless 2013 up market. Now, of course, in 2014 my put credit spreads aren't performing as well as they did last year. I have enjoyed my time lurking on this forum and look forward to being more active in the future

Peter Ashley

Hello to all,
I have been trading full time for 20+ years. I was a mkt maker trading equities & was one of the original SOES traders back in the late 90's. I moved into the futures mkts in 2002 & I traded strictly Price Action (PA) w/o the use of charts until 2003 or so.
I am still a PA trader although I now use charts but no indicators and I primarily trade ES and a little CL

My goal is to be able to be able to trade the thinner mkts with more confidence. I am not a fan of the way the CME reports trades and I have yet to find a program, add-on or tool that will show the prints as they really are.

I am have never spent much time in forums and chat rooms because of all the negativity and bashing that goes on. I have heard great things about futures.io (formerly BMT) room and it will be a refreshing change to be in a community where this is not present.

I hope that I might find what I am looking for and possibly even help a few people along the way.

Good Trading

Hello everyone!
I consider myself to be a newbie at trading although I have been at it for a few years I really don't know what I'm doing!
I have read quite a few books and visit quite a few web pages about investing and it seems everyone has their own "Secret" to investing. I have tried Technical investing, but I can't seem to read the stocks correctly.
I have tried Fundamental analysis but reading the financials from different companies turned out to be very confusing - and very time consuming. (grrr why can't all companies have the same format for their 10k's?)
I subscribe to IBD and read a lot of articles but it hasn't really taken hold yet.
have owned some really nice stocks and have been burned by some penny stocks. My worst experience was following the 8% rule from IBD - I had bought Tesla at @ 24 per share, it dropped by 8% so I sold all my shares....now look at that stock!!!
I just want to learn a nice, simple system and I am willing to absorb some losses if I can sprinkle in some big winners too!
So, I will be spending some time (usually on the weekends - too tired during the week after work) reading some threads and gleaning as much as possible. Hopefully I can sharpen my trading skills and make some money!

Hi Mike,
Glad to find this forum and learn from more experienced hands.
Finding more up-to-date real-world application here than theory.
Have been going through the normal route of reading books and have now progressed to this forum.
The web has an overwhelming amount of information and it's hard to decipher the wheat from the chaff but this forum seems to be the more edible content and is definitely helpful.

Hi Mike,

I'm a software architect from Italy with a passion for trading. I hope to learn much more about trading techniques in order to improve my trading system and philosophy. I feel like a beginner in this world even if I'm not so young.

Thanks for your forum.

Hi Everyone,
Day trading has had its ups and downs for me, mostly downs. Fortunately I did not blow out my account. Today I focus mainly on swing trading, but I still do regular day trades.
Learning from other's mistakes and using good money management had allowed me to turn my losses around and I am slowly making progress. Last year I showed a modest profit. This year I hope that with information from traders on this blog site I can make this a very profitable year.

I look forward to interacting with my fellow 'Forumers' !

Hey Mike and everyone.

I'm new to the scene. I'm here to learn as much as I can while I am studying business and commerce in Australia.

I have been an elite member for almost 2 months and I have be browsing the forums and watching Youtube videos here and there. If anyone could help me and suggest any videos to give me some kind of direction I would appreciate the help greatly.

hi,

i am a would-like-to-be-a-trader interested mainly in options trading as it is a more capital efficient approach compared to usual equity long/short trading and allows for a much more controlled risk environment.

imho, thinkorswim is the best plataform available and its my main one. thinkscript allows for customizing of indicators and other trading tools

i am taking an option course with Options Animal, superb pedagogical approach. the best $ i spent in trading education by far, and i have spent some.

i also followed Larry Connors TA methods for some time, but they are not suitable for my options approach. that said, i liked it so much that o decided to develop my own tests using Amibroker, which i am still to learn.

i still have to consolidate some important guidance on options trading, such as a set of indicators and rules for entry exit according to the option strategy (mainly selling credit spreads). though option does not require extreme timing precision in my trading, the better i can time it, the easier the performance can exponentially increase.

i have found that an excellent and simple timing system is used by OA (macd, rsi and crossover of 5/20 ema (here part of bollinger band), but for a sense of overbought/oversold and expected movement range still keep me in unknown territory. i am also doing some research on Heiken Hashi candles help on trend forecasting and the reason is the visual aspect.

i have found Elder Safe Zone a very interesting approach to keep me in the right side of the trade. strangely i don't see many people discussing it, even though it is better in my mind that atr usage.

would like to see more on the topics i mentioned.

thanks and nice to be here.

Abraham

Hi Mike and all!

I am a financial analyst and consultant by profession, but being a trader is so much different: I have been trying to become one on and off since 2007, but only in 2010 I started putting in the unfaltering commitment that is necessary.

I think trading profession can only be learnt in one of two ways: either squandering vast fortunes, or finding a good mentor. I opted for the latter and started to look for someone. I found at first Saverio Berlinzani: a former Forex trader for some major European banks, but his teaching didn't fit my personality.
In the summer of 2011 I finally settled with Jeff Quinto after watching his Cme videos. I must say that his mentoring turned my trading (and also some bit of my life) to the better.
I have started to trade live just recently. My journey in Wonderland has begun!

All the best!
