Hello all. My name is Fritz. Serial entrepreneur, husband, retired hockey dad, retired hockey coach, and an avid tournament poker enthusiast(btw, not a gambler, it's in the math).
I started in the world of trading in the late 70's, manually going through a broker. Didn't take me long to see the cycle of broker needs to make commissions and bailed on that plan.
I also got hooked up with a fellow in the old Vancouver stock exchange, (it was like the wild wild west back then as it was mostly speculative gold mining) who would have a list of folks to buy up any ipo's he introduced. File that under education also.
Coming to the realization of how little I knew of how I thought the markets worked, I set out to educate myself on the subject between businesses, hockey games, and life in general.
Late 90's to early 2000's, I dove in again, but this time I worked at it full time. We had a awesome group of 10 workaholics in a private mIRC chat room, and we would spend hours upon hours scanning and looking for stocks to trade. Sub-pennies to Nasdaq is where we would mostly farm. We, as a group, developed spreadsheet after spreadsheet looking for certain setups and patterns. But (there always seems to be a but), I started to get massive headaches, and you cannot trade, or do the work well, buzzed on advil. The cause, I found out much later, was the difference between the frequency/refresh rate of the overhead florescent lights in my office, and the 6, old style CRT monitors I was staring into all day. The solution was LCD screens. But back then they were super expensive, and nobody I knew was using them. Now this time around I was money ahead, but it was a chore to put in the time, so I parked it again.
I could not forget trading and kept my eye on the industry, still reading book after book.
Then the light bulb moment. I had spend so much time finding stocks to trade, I totally missed that I had a poor idea "how to trade". My boys are all retired from hockey, and my businesses are self sustaining, so back to school for me!
The futures.io (formerly BMT) community is an amazing resource, and thanks to all who contribute. One day I hope to make a contribution also.

Hi all!

I'm a recent convert to the world of trading. I've blew up a lot of money on "the best trading education" but I still have not seen significant improvements on my trading results. Needless to say I glad I've found this site.

Thanks Big Mike!

Hello futures.io (formerly BMT) Community!

to introduce myself: I'm quite a beginner to trading - located in germany.

What I look for on futures.io (formerly BMT):
(Trading) mind development
connect with other traders

What I do to gain knowledge and develop my trading mindset:
learn from the experience of my coach
learning price action
familiarizing with NT7 (no broker or data vendor yet - just using market replay data)
mindfullness
small trading setup
develop a plan

Which markets I'm interested in: (not easy to answer a beginner)
ES
6E
YM
TF

Commodity View Post
i'm from Iran & i'm trading CME futures
.due to global sanctions against iran i trade in a unusual way !

first i trade with trading account of a friend(i can not legally trade due to my nationality ).
second each 1-2 months i receive my profits in cash from passengers of airplane who travels from states to iran! account holder takes 10% of profits and give the rest to some passengers which are his friends.we can not have credit card or even wire transfer ,all is blocked.even worse due to sanctions we can not publish scientific papers in finance journals ! and even worse than all of them ! internet speed above 128kbps is forbidden here.and this bandwidth is shared between 10-12 persons.
i use 5 different modems (incuding ADSL + 3G +WIMAX and etc ) & dispatch (mix) them just to connect to a co location server and trade with a monochrome/black & white screen (the lowest quality to compensate low speed)

it took me 4-5 years to learn and build my edge .now i'm profitable consistently not only because of my method.but rather because of money management and trading psychology.
i'm really jealous to you that you all can have high speed internet, can have a trading account in your name and can have banking account & paypal and even can pay with paypal to be a ellite member.i'm really jealous that you can have access to prop trading firms capital.setting up a trading account for you may take 30 minutes.while only setting up internet connection took me a year .

i'm struggling and try to survive these rigid & stupid sanctions ! the reality that i can make money out of most traders who can not, is a clue of hope for me to continue this way with all difficulties & risks.

WTF who is banning high speed internet??
