Hi all,

My friend has started to learn trading and that's what got me interested in it. I haven't traded before but I am studying hard and have opened a thinkorswim paper money account.

This forum seems like a nice place to be, and I'm glad I found it. I look forward to learning and growing here!

My name is Vasily and I'm day trader. Some time before I was worry because I can't speak about trading with somebody. It was terrible, I really didn't know how to get good advice and moral support. So I hope I'll gain new food for brane, new expiriance and hope very much I'll find my community. Good Luck!

Hello Everyone,
I traded futures 15 years ago and made a fortune. Literally turned 2k into 200k in under 3 months. I had no idea what i was really doing. I was a kid. Now that i am grown up, i want to get back into trading futures but its been 15 years and now i don't know what i am doing. I need advice on where i should start. I am interested in Grains and possibly Crude Oil (considering whats going on in the m,id east) any suggestions or advice? Would surely appreciate it. I don't even have an account set up yet. Trading futures is not what it used to be.

Greetings traders,

I've been swing trading and day trading for over a year now. I have lost a lot of money, it's easier to lose money day trading than swing trading for me, but I have losses in both. I only have had much success swing trading biotechs, which are fairly predictable. Then I day trade large cap stocks and lose out in seconds or minutes. I know from the Thinkorswim chatrooms that a lot of experienced traders make good money trading even in just the first hour of a day. I hope to laern the secrets of this or I will never get my gelt back.

Hello, I've been trading for about 5 months now. Mostly gold futures using TOS. Basic set up - a 5 and 15 min candlestick chart with the 8ema,20sma 50sma, as well as the BB's, Keltner channels, and PSAR on the 5 for my stops. Below the charts I use, the Squeeze, the DMI with the ADX, MACD, RSI, and the C wave. It's been a great journey so far. It' really been a evolution. I always feel like I am in kindergarten with this stuff, but lately feel like an advanced kindergartner. I initially felt that gold was a bull and I was in a bullring with lots of other people pushing and shoving-all trying not to get gored by the bull. Then I realized the bull(gold)also had whips that could slash out at you. Now I think of gold as a golden orb or entity that I have befriended and am starting to understand. The more I understand its moods the more freely cash is there for the taking.
I would love to simplify my charts, but so far am having a hard time eliminating anything. I also would love to learn about other charting platforms, but now that I am comfortable and profitable I don't think I'll be making any changes soon.
Also key for me are pivot points. Would love to hear from anyone trading my style. Best wishes to all.

Out of work financial analyst trying to learn a new living in something that has always interested me - trading equities and options on equities. I have read so many books, viewed so many web tutorials, that I fear I now suffer from "analysis paralysis." Hoping to get jump-started without losing my shirt and being unable to continue.

I have traded for several years with mixed results. Purchased and have many courses. One thing I have learned is that there are a number of methods to be successful at trading and not everyone can match the success of a someone else's method.
You need to find the strategy that seems to motivate you the most then add your own nuances. If you like what you are doing but not having the success you expect just keep practicing and it will develop. I use the ninjatrader market replay to practice and build my skills before going real time. Right now I mainly focus on Oil and gold futures with occasional option trades as well. Was happy to find this site. Thanks Big Mike

I had to get away from futures. I got hammered when Biden spoke yesterday about Syria and like a fool I chased CL and, no lie, I got in long at the VERY top and before I could get a stop in, it turned and went short like a rocket. I got the #%@*& beat out of me! With that said, I've decided to go back to equities and swing trade some of those. It's not as exciting or volatile, of course, but I need to rethink my position after that beating I took yesterday. Anyone have any good ticker symbols that move a decent amount in a day that they trade and would like to share? Thanks.

Been working at a finance startup for a few years after studying economics and statistics. Very interested in learning more about quantitative algorithms for trading. Looking forward to learning about the best software and setups for automating trading.

Cheers!
