Hello all

I have some experience in technical training, but I know I have a lot to learn and am hoping that futures.io (formerly BMT)F, which came highly recommended, will be a great place to understand the nuances of the markets.

May we all live in interesting times!

Hello traders,

My name is Piotr and I have been involved with trading since I was 18. I am 22 now and studying Economics at University of Florida.

I began with getting familiar with NinjaTrader on demo futures accounts. I was intrigued with the possibility of making money on my computer. Computers were my hobby since I was a kid and trading looked like my natural next step.

After learning the platform and establishing a strategy which I found online I began to day trade on sim. I lacked consistency, planning, money management know-how, as well as psychological preparation for what was to come.
I began trading live and managed to break even on some days, made some lucky money on others, and then lost the money I won and tried to make it back. It wasn't working. I knew I had to regroup and educate myself.

I was determined that I will shape myself into a consistent and profitable professional. I began reading books such as "Trading in the Zone," "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator," "Market Wizards." I gained valuable insight into trading faux-pas and who I have to become as a trader to make this work.

At this current moment, I have narrowed my desired style to swing trading in the Forex market with the use of Fibonacci, Elliot Wave, momentum, and price action. I would call this keeping it simple with all of the tools we have available out there.

My top goals are to develop consistency in mind set, routine, and money management.

I am excited to be part of this forum and I want to contribute ideas and knowledge and get feedback from those who have been where I am.

If I do all this, success is inevitable.

Piotr

Hi all,

I am primarily an options trader; stocks, etfs and indices on the TOS platform. I have been inconsistent in my results and am looking forward to learning from members here.

My name is George and I'm from the Philadelphia area. My handle is MMANDI which is an acronym for Me, Myself and I. I'm a pharmacist who began picking up an interest in trading in 2007. I started out trading FOREX and options after reading lots of books on both subjects. I have since moved on to futures trading for the past 3 years.

I haven't had much success but I continue to press on since I find the trading business interesting even though its very frustrating. I'm always looking for new ideas that can help me become successful. My goal is to make trading my profession and I treat it like a business even though I have yet to see any real profits. This past year I formed an LLC to do my trading with the hopes of eventually moving towards my goals of becoming consistently profitable and self-sufficient through my trading activities.

As time has passed my knowledge continues to grow. I started out with FXCM, Gain Capital (forex.com) and optionsXpress as my brokers. Then I moved to TD Ameritrade (thinkorswim) where I began to learn how to program my own custom indicators. I found thinkorswim to be inadequate for the level of programming I wanted to do (not enough memory in JAVA-based platform, only 5 days of tick data). This led me to MultiCharts at the beginning of 2013 and I have been pleased so far. I like TD Ameritrade as a broker but since they don't currently interface with MultiCharts I had to switch to Interactive Brokers which hasn't been a problem to date. I picked up on EasyLanguage very quickly and my learning curve continues to expand.

I found futures.io (formerly BMT) through a google search looking for ideas and I am impressed with the level of knowledge and professionalism displayed by the administrator and the community as a whole. I plan on uploading some of the indicators I've created thus far with the hopes that they can help somebody become better at trading, improve their programming skills or just to share some ideas with other traders out there. I look forward to interacting with other members here and probably will become an Elite member in the near future. I used the site to help me choose MultiCharts as my platform based on reviews here and also chose IQFeed as my data provider based on information I read here as well.

I would be interested in finding a capable mentor who could help me with some of the issues I have been having in my journey to achieve my goals. So far, everything I've learned and all the mistakes I've made have been through my own process. I've never had anyone give me any advice or pointers other than webinars or videos I've watched. I looking to build some relationships with other traders where we bounce ideas off each other. I think I might have something to offer even though I'm not successful yet (you may learn what NOT to do... LOL). I know that I should benefit from interacting here at futures.io (formerly BMT). If you live in the same area I do (Philadelphia, PA), feel free to contact me and we can exchange more detailed contact information.

That being said... Good luck and more importantly consistent success to each of you!

Hi all!

Two month ago I discovered a blog of a guy who is day trading while travelling around the world. Hard life!
I was myself preparing a trip. So when I went back one month later, I began to seek for some informations
about what is "day trading" to try to understand if that could really be feasible... and it seems that it could be!

For now I am mainly reading books on candlesticks, technical analysis, auction market theory, volume profiling and trading psychology.
I also watched some webinars and videos on youtube (thank you Big Mike!), tried to compare a lot of brokers, platforms, data feeds, execution feeds...
It's a bit overwhelming but I am begining to put some pieces together.

I also tried to papertrade some equities on thinkorswim but I didn't really liked the platform and quickly realized that
it would be difficult, with a small capital, to make money (high commissions, finding "good" low cost stocks was just a pain for me) so
then I just felt in love with the "simplicity" (and the name =) of Futures...

So there I am with a lot to learn...

Cheers!
