Hi Everyone,

Been here for a couple of weeks now, and still don't think i've scratched the surface. I am simultaneously reading books and going through information on this site to get up to speed on all the different markets.

Hopefully when I can contribute something meaningful soon!

Hello,
I am new to this forum and new to trading. I am currently in the research phase of my education. So far this has been a multi-faceted approach. Part of my time is spent on understanding the market, some of the time on watching ticks on a tick chart, some of my time reading the pre and post market blogs, still more time on technical analysis, and more time becoming intimate with Ninjatrader platform. I have programed and back tested strategies, simulation traded with live data, and started daily trading logs and am tracking statistics. This forum continues to cross my path and I look forward to becoming an elite member at such time I decide to actually start investing money and not just time. Thanks for reading.

I am an entrepreneur at heart. I love the art of investing although to say that I am an amatuer would be generous. I have driven from Salt Lake City to Omaha a few times to listen to Warren Buffett.

Looking to learn and this looks like the place.
Thanks,
WC

This looks like a great place to get help and get a good start.

My biggest problem is time and focus. I rarely get enough time and I think that my organizational skills need improvment.

I want to make money so that I can live well.

Ok that's my goal, I need to keep it simple, I do market direction now very well and now I am looking at entry and exits on swings.

If anyone can point me to low risk, with a good chance of a positive return swing trade please point the way.

Gale

Salutations,

I'm a 2012 graduate of Purdue University. I got my bachelors in Agricultural Economics. I started trading stocks and opened my own account with a local firm at 18. Turns out this was 2007 so I rode out the financial crisis and broke even mostly making one pretty successful trade, doubling my money on GE. I am interested in using my degree and working in the futures or stock markets yet I have little experience besides my education and personal trading. I am trying to save more money to make more trades, but spent all my time during college working for a family construction business leaving my resume with something to be desired. I am currently self employed and contemplating going to grad school. I have not an interview but a tour with a guy I work for in Louisville next week at his business. He is a big shot futures trader actually and is President of a somewhat notable firm. Due to my lack of experience and connections in this industry I am not quite sure where to begin. I am from southern Indiana and have lived in a town of less than 40,000 my entire life besides my 4 years in West Lafayette. I have contemplated moving to Chicago or New York, but when things didn't work out for me in the family business it left me "holding the bag" per se. If anyone has any suggestions as to where to start and how to better market myself to companies/ grad schools, I would greatly appreciate any and all advice. Also I am very interested in advice on trading.
Growing up I was never asked "Son, what do you want to do when you grow up?" It was always assumed I'd take over the family business and fall into line just like my father. However succession plans went up in flames and have left me with a lot of wasted years and good internship offers turned down. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I am sure I'll learn a ton on this forum.
P.S. My family also still owns the family farm a few miles down the road from my parents house. So I have a pretty strong ag background.

Hi all, it's almost a year that I'm an elite member of this fantastic community but I begin to write just today. Anyway bettter later than never!

I have studied the market since late 2011. I have began with forex but that markets doesn't fit my vision for a long time.
After a year I have changed my focus on futures products and in particular on the ES.

I hope a day I will re-read this post as a succesfull trader.
