Hi to all,

first I want to thank Mike and all contributors for this great forum!

I am learning to trade US Stocks and ETFs mostly on daily chart.

Shorter timeframes I think are to fast for me. I am still carrying losses forward from 2008 when I had some mutual funds and watched them go down. I listened to my (bad) fund advisers and thought: What goes down will go up again. Some time. Okay - some time can be long. ;-) Now I learned that there is a thing called stop loss that definitely helps avoiding losses. And a few others things about risk management which I further want to improve. Due to last years positive development in stock markets I am now breakeven as well and I think it is time now to make some profit now ;-)

So I want to improve my skills and also maybe go into shorter timeframes.

I am using no indictors anymore just the naked chart with support and resistance. But I like the Ichimoku as it is very condensed and shows stock prices in a balanced way.

This should do it for now. Kind regards and a happy day to everybody!

Hello all, I am interested in trading the ES. Working full time makes that somewhat difficult.

I have tried several different services with varying degrees of success. It is hard to know what you dont know when you get started. I was with OFA for a time, learned a lot. Their chat room was a great experience, with really nice friendly people. Just was not able to get over the hump. I was also in the IOAMT chat room with somewhat the same experience.

Not currently trading live, just watching and trying to learn what I can.

DDawg

PS thanks to Big Mike for the forum.

Hi All,
I discovered this site in my search for knowledge. I am just starting out developing trading plan - looking at which broker and platform that will suit me best (am initially going to sim trade DT Pro); want to initially day trade one of the emini futures (leaning towards ES or 6E); develop entry strategies (what to use...1, 2, 3 setups, breakouts, channels, S&R, pivots, fibonacci levels, ma's, momentum indicators, volume, etc); and how to manage trade.
I hope to learn from your experience and thank you for your contributions.
Jim

Hello traders,

I knew about the forum while I was searching for a place to learn about trading. I'm new to trading, back in 2008 I bought some gold which I sold in 2011 and I made some good money, then I decided I need to do some "active trading".

I continued my journey by entering stock market, so I went for "buy and hold", which was also effective somehow.

I didn't know by that time about day trading, the concept of day trading attracted me, but I'm still learning.

I'm not planning to trade in a real money till I feel I'm ready.

i'm jim,

i use ninja trader cuz it's free. an IB cuz it's cheap.

i like to trade the ES mostly but i'm open to any non-equity, maybe some SPY.

i don't like FX,

i still get mad at myself when i trade bad. i make the same stupid mistakes over and over, for some reason i can't help myself.

i'm finally profitable, but not by much most weeks.

i hate writing code, thats the real reason i joined to try and short cut some of the NinjaScripts i need to write.

First I would like to thank Mike and all contributors for this great forum.

Hello everyone.

Been trading for many years, lost a lot of money at first and when I lost my business and started to really learn and focus on trading that is when I started to make back my losses. I trade the S&P and the Russell with a system that I developed and have been very successful with it. I'm now trying to automated my system in NT so that I don't have to sit in front of my monitors all day.
My passion is the markets and I travel and trade from all over the world. I'm planning a trip from Alaska to the tip of Argentina on my bike and will need to have my system automated by then, so that I can just log in tha review my trades and make any adjustments needed from wherever i am. That is how I found out about this forum, trying to learn how to program my system. Great to be here and happy birthday coming up to Big Mike's trading forum.

Great trading and persevere.

Hi all, I'm a quant research beginner from China. I start my research as an intern in a hedge fund.
I think I would benefit a lot from the discussion here, and I'll be glad to share my research experience with you here.

First of all, thanks to all and specially to BM for providing this forum and sharing the knowledge.

Now, my short introduction: I a trader from overseas, Spain is m country, Madrid my hometown, so sorry for my language errors. I started trading 3 years ago, but with real money only 1 year ago. The first two ones were devoted to simulation, always with NinjaTtrader.

My experience is probably the common one: I loose money, sometimes I make it, more the former than the latter, but i am convinced that the key to success is inside me, as well as the reason for my errors is inside my and is in most of the cases lack of confidence and/or fear.

Do not know what else should be said, as here the age, sex and outward appearance is fortunately not important (appreciate this, btw). So I will try to share my (little) knowledge and to learn as much as I can. One first contribution if this can be named like that: from the last trading books I read the one that I most liked was "The Disciplined Trader" by Mark Douglas (I hope it is not incorrect to mention specific books)

Thanks again and good trading for all

Helios
