Hello everyone...trying to get my feet wet but have been paying a price in the market. I demoed for a while and thought I had the hang of it and then ate it when I was (and still am) live trading. Im about at my wits end but I vowed to never give up!

Hi everyone. I’m really excited about joining in this forum. I taught myself trading back in 1999, was overwhelmed with all the indicators and methodologies, struggled through the tech wreck of 2000 and finally blew out my trading account in 2003. It was a miserable and humbling experience. But I really caught the bug and am back after a 7-year absence, finally having the time to devote to it.

I have taken a course and updated my tools. I was a big TradeStation user - now I’m using QCharts but taking a very hard look at NinjaTrader. The only instrument I’m trading is the ES and absolutely love it. ‘Still not where I want to be but think I’m close to turning the corner on trading profitably-consistently. I live and breathe this stuff - I just hope I can make money at it.

Hello everyone,
I started trading Live Cattle futures about 20 or more years ago for about 2 years on and off. My idea was to learn the personality of one commodity and trade that only. However I never learned to manage my own personality and I was not able to make money because of that. Luckily I did not have much money to lose. I just got interested again in trading and am looking forward to trying again.

P.S. I was one of the first charter members of the Murray Math (CLUB?)
It is all a distant memory now:=)

Hello,
I am a veteran of the CME trading floor. I started as a runner on the floor in 1977. I ran a foreign currency arbitrage operation on the floor from 1978-1981. At that point I got my membership and became a broker in the Canadian Dollar pit. I was a broker until 1991. I then decided to start trading solely for my own account. I remained on the floor until the end of 2004. The foreign currencies had lost most of their business to the computerized trading platform. I took a few years off of trading to do some real estate development. In early 2008 I realized how much I love and miss the markets so I decided to start trading on the computer. I have always been a technical trader even when I was on the trading floor. I am and always will be fascinated by charts, price movement, trends and trading. I went from a simple computer set up to a Falcon Trading Systems computer with an eight screen set-up. I also trade a longer term account in Fidelity on a Mac.
I do o.k. last year but felt that I left a lot of opportunity on the table. I used mostly price movement and candlesticks. I am starting to use a system based on Mark Fisher's work. I am going to try the Blue Wave Trading indicators to see how they feel. I feel my money management skills are well proven but I need to find a system that I like and can stick with.
I hope this gives you some idea of who I am and how I think. I appreciate sites like this. It reminds us that were not alone out there.
Thanks again,Gary
P.S. If anyone reading this used to be on the floor my badge was SEA.

Hello Big Mike and all,
I'm an intermediate "still-with-lots-of-room-to-improve" day trader, currently focusing on TF, 6E and CL. I've finally gotten fairly consistently "Green" for the day, but struggled for a long time with only occasional winning days and lots more losing days.

Key for me was learning to avoid outright dumb trades and then see and avoid the more subtle "higher risk" trades. Learning this has been a major reason for the change from red to green P&L in my at the end of the day. I still have losing days, but they are much fewer, and are usually either a very tough narrow range day, or I'm doing something wrong that shows up in review at the end of the day.

I have learned that, for me, to be profitable means avoiding many potential entries. I also have learned that I hate being wrong, and that I really need to follow my trade management strategy because if I don't, and instead let my ego manage the trade, it will be a big loser.

Looking forward to learning from all of you and contributing to your site, Big Mike. Thanks for your time and energy to put it together.
