I would like to introduce myself since i have not posted since i signed into.

I have been falling in love with the stock market, maybe by watching the movie "Trading Places".
With 18 i bought my first German stocks, and hold em just before the stock market collapsed in 2001.
So i made a relative big profit and felt as would i have been made to trade.

But there was the other love and therefore i went to university to become a aerospace engineer.
During that educaction time i started to trade options gone broke and learned that leverage is really dangerous.
This resulted also in some psychosomatic illness. On 9. Juli 2006 i bought the Taylor Trading Technique, which was cited in an article of the German Trader's magazine. During that time i was in CFDs, which i didnt liked very much and i had no big success in those. At that time Taylors Theorie did not made much sense to me. Because i had to do work i stopped trading for maybe 4 years but i had always an eye on the markets.

At 2010 i made a 3 month trade in DAX Knockout options and had a very good run. On 14. February i closed a 3 Day Trade with an big profit. This made me very euphoric i everybody could see that on the streets girls asked me if i would have lunch with em.

This made me think i could start trading during my job, and i did that thinking that i can read the chart because of having read much books about chart reading and trading. In the end i lost all the money i accumulated before.
So only thing which reminds me to that time is the watch i bought after my big win. An Omega Seamaster Professional. This watch reminds me that i can reach a lot of things, but it also warns me to stay with an elaborated good plan, which prevents me to get bigheaded and not to risk to much.

After having lost all my wins i realized that i had no trading plan and i reminded that old Taylor Trading Technique Book. I started to read every morning the corresponding day description like if my count said today is a buy day i read the buy day article and i got a plan for the day. It was not a perfect plan but it was a plan. This was enough to make the sell off of my equitie stop and make it rise again. But on one day i realized that trading KOs is not a good idea because of pricing reasons. At that time in the mid of 2011 the market was sometimes too fast to get tradeable quotes. I thought a possible answer to that would be to change to CFDs again.

In trading CFDs i had to stop because of overtrading comissions were such low that i could afford to jump in and out and not to stick to my plan of the day. Ok that was my more active trading story. I made a break in November 2011 and decided to put my sparetime into education how to get a good trader.
The books i got for that purpose are from lbr groups reading list.

I worked on the psychological aspect and got my educated in NLP right now i have an Practitioner.
I also joined the german group of the IFTA, to get in social touch with traders like me.
I meet them every second and forth Wednesday a month.

Right now i am planning to enter again the trading business but that time i think i have a plan.

My plan is as following
1. I will post my journal at futures.io (formerly BMT).
2. I will and i do meditate every day for 20 minutes to get a clear head
3. Since the 14. April i train by simulated trading every sunday.
4. I trade with a small amount of money in real every friday the US Stockmarket.
5. Starting at the first of October this year i will work only on a half day basis, which makes it possible
for me to trade 3 days a week.

I hope that was not too long for a introduction of myself.
Best Regards
Franz

It's nice to find a community of traders. I couldn't seem to find anyone who would even speak of commodities or trading. I hope to be able to contribute in some way. Right now I'm just beginning and trying to get my feet under me. Been through a couple of accounts one lost, one survived but I got out. I hope that this time I can stick it out.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

I have been involved in trading for the last 2.5 years or so but more active since last June. I started with trying to intraday trade stocks by reading the tape, but determined it wasn't possible due to my work schedule, so I went for some formal training in Forex last year. For reasons yet unknown, I have not had that many trades in Forex so I decided to make some changes to my career to allow for more trading during the morning. I then took some more training in Futures (from the same company) and have now started trading them actively. I find Futures more exciting than Forex and plan on trading them most of the time. I trade off of a tick chart for Futures. If I can find a strategy I can adapt to, I would like to continue trading Forex on a swing basis (few days to a couple weeks). If I cannot make that work (I believe I am built for intraday trading only) , I will just focus 100% on Futures. Oh, I am also going to work on trading stocks and ETFs in my IRA accounts.

The platforms I currently use are TradeStation for Futures, FXCM for spot Forex, and ThinkorSwim for IRAs. I am in the process of testing NinjaTrader to trade Futures with as well.

I hope to connect with like-minded traders to bounce ideas off of.

Hi All!,

I am an non-us citizen working in the Middle East, I've got disposable income for the first time and would like to see the money grow, not just sit in the bank account getting chewed up by inflation. So I've set up a training plan for myself:

- Real Estate as the core of my investments
- Set-up a self-invested retirement fund, via ETF's
- Speculation in financial markets (futures, etc.), algorithmic trading.

I've got limited experience in these areas, just an account in Interactive Brokers where I keep a bunch of ETFs. I think joining BigMike Trading will help a lot in terms of exchange of experiences. There is a lot of experienced traders and investors I can learn from and share with here. I'm an automation freak, and would like to set up systems to help my trading and manage my risk taking.

Hello Forum Partners,

While reading through several of the posts on Big Mike's Forum, I was impressed by the professionalism, enthusiasm, and genuine "willingness" of many traders to help other traders. My story is that I started trading with $4,500 in my account. During my first year of trading that amount went down to $1,600. Now trending back up and currently at $3,800. I do not Day Trade at this time because of small account size. Position trade mini contracts only.
