Hi everyone,

First thank you Mike for putting together such valuable resource to all traders out there.
I very recently left my job at an investment bank after close to 5 years to try my hand at trading full time. I've saved enough trading capital plus a year's worth of leaving expenses. At this point I am still SIM trading as I try to become profitable and eradicate beginner mistakes such as closing profitable positions too fast (it was a lot of work to save this money and I want to make sure it lasts and grows). It's funny how we know we are doing something wrong and yet it's so hard to get rid of it. But with time and focus I can change that, just like a bad habit.
I use market profile along with range candle charts and footprint chart for my trading. I'm looking for strong support and resistance areas and trade depending how the markets react at those levels.
Now I'm using Ninja Trader sim and tradestation. I'm still evaluating which Platform I will use for good.
I bought my first stock in 2001 and traded ever since. I bought my first ES contract mid last year nothing since then. I am trying to learn how to program on Ninja, but it's quite complicated so I'm looking for some advice on that front.
My favorite trading books are Trading in the Zone, Mind Over Markets, and Market Wizards.

Good luck everyone.

Nick Faria

Hello All,

My name is Craig and I am working on developing a day trading style (including entry, initial risk, trade management, targets, etc) suit my personality. I ran a hedge fund some years ago utilizing a swing trading approach (1-10 days) keyed off the nasdaq their pairing down to sectors and ultimately a basket of individual stocks. I thought that transitioning to day trading would be easier for me given past trading experience, but it has proven difficult. I've day traded the bond and SP futures with little success. The triggers for entry have been primarily CCI or short MA based and have worked fine - it's been my exits (stops too tight or too far away and closing winners too early - ie money/risk management). The swing trading I did only allowed for end of day trades, which in many ways made trading easier. I came across this forum and thought it would be a good place to learn and hopefully contribute some as well. My current plan is to stay out of trading real $$ until I have a complete written plan. I have Ensign set up to do some playback study, etc. Thank you to Mike for setting this up this forum.

Hi everyone,

Just starting out with NinjaTrader, first impressions are great. I'm a veteran contract programmer specialising in DotNet framework so very excited about coding in my native environment. I have been discretionary trading FOREX for 6 years and blown two major live accounts. Last year bought a cheap robot which did remarkably well (in fact doubled a small live account) - this automated experience has turned out to be the most successful part of my trading career so far! So finally decided to move away from discretionary trading to fully automated and this new leg of my journey begins right here right now. Thanks to Mike for this website and forum.

richard couch, aka: dickysofa here. I'm an options trader and have started playing with Ninja Trader and writing my own indicators and strategies. I've been using Think or Swim and its ok but has serious limitations.

oh, I was in software for over 25 years before I became a full-time trader.

Hi Mike and all members,

My name is Tibet and living in the Netherlands.
I am working full time as Sales Engineer and scalp YM part time.

I use 133t to determine the trend and 35t for the execution.
My daily target is 10 pts and I stop trading when I reach to my target.

My goal is to become a full time trader once I make profit during 12 consecutive months.

I like to thank to Mike and all other, who shares their ideas.

Regards,
YMScalper

Hello all

My name is Steve and I am based in the UK. Have been trying to learn to trade for 2 or 3 years. Been through various styles, platforms, indicators, guru's and grails. Currently honing my skills scalping the GBP/JPY. I am interested in all forms of trading both Intraday and Longer term. Stumbled across this website and must say it is full of goos stuff.. Well done Mike !!

Happy Trading To All, Cheers

Steve

Hello Everyone,

I manage a quant hedge fund. We trade in futures markets with no leverage. The reason we do this is the ease of trading and liquidity.

For the past couple of years we have been struggling with the inadequacies and weaknesses of the tradestation platform.

Recently I discovered Ninja Trader and I just love it. Hopefully within a few months we will get rid of TS completely and use NT exclusively.

Regards
Volkan

Looking to further develop my skills scalping futures with a view to leave IT and start trading full time in the future.
