I am a rank beginner and amateur trying to learn more. I have downloaded the free ninjatrader and have been somewhat active on big mike's but frankly it is all just too overwhelming right now. If you could give me one point from which to start investigating, what would that be? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the best trading community out there. I would start looking through experienced traders' journals with multiple posts. Best of luck

Howdy all,

I have been swing trading (since I have a full-time job) for about 2 years. I trade mostly equities, but recently carefully dabbling with options.

I have the dream of trading full-time for a living, but my win-loss record has demonstrated that I am far from ready.

I am most interested in learning more about price action and market profile, but I am looking forward to sifting through all that this forum has to offer.

Cheers

I am a trader with close to 30 yrs experience and have done well in public trading contests such as Robbins. I was referred to this site by a reader of my blog, and it seems like a great forum. I have had the bulk of all the money I trade with stolen by PFG in that scandal, so am having to start over again with much smaller accounts than what I have had for many years. It was fortunate that I did have some money elsewhere or I would have been ruined by that situation.

So far in the first month which was a partial month for me, I have made 10% so a decent start. I hope to be able to add something in here that will help others, and perhaps learn a thing or two as well. I always love to study new approaches and ideas to see how I might be able to incorporate them into what I already do. I have experience with most of the platforms out there since I have been at this for so long. My hold period is 1 to 10 days generally, so I do not scalp intraday.

I have my hands in a lot of things, so I will try to reply to anything as quickly as I can once I get the hang of how this works here.

Lets roll!

Hi, Eventhough I have been looking and experimenting with trading since Oct 2011, but I am still at a lost. I thank BigMike trading for having this forum, and I do check into the forum every now and then.
I find that es, which is the first market that I learned, and traded, is too unpredictable and choppy, and slow too. Now I am looking into CL. I know they say, CL is for the experienced and seasoned trader, but I noticed if I am not blinded by greed, I can make 5 ticks (equivalent to 1pt in ES, which is very hard to attain these days), quite quickly.
Does anyone know of a live trade room for CL, NG, GC? I see most trade es. Also any recommendations on the type of market to trade? I really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Retired software developer, currently living in Patzcuaro, Mexico. I have dabbled in the markets over my adult years, but now that I no longer have a day job I have the time to get serious about trading. My motivation is as much for recreation and stimulation as for money, although I won´t mind if I make a few extra bucks.

I am studying Jack Hershey´s methods and getting a lot out of it, especially the forum blogs by SpyderTrader (one of JH´s serious students). In the past I have also studied the Wyckoff methods as well. And I will probably try out the TopStepTrader program as well.

Good trading to all!

G' Day,

I am Jose from Australia, I Have been a long time lurker of futures.io (formerly BMT)F, and decided its time that I post a message.
I have been using a simulator for about a year. The first 6 months is i was pretty much gambling, its only in the last 6 months in which I have started to learn how to trade, reading up on support and resistance, trends, market psychology etc. There is still a lot more to learn and a lot more to tweak in my apparent strategy.
The instruments i like to trade on are the SPI, ES, 6E and CL, it does vary from day to day on which instruments i trade on and whether i lose or win etc, i am currently using the AMP nt7 with CQG sim.
I would like to give a big thank you to everyone on this forum, so much has been learnt from your experiences.

Thank You
