I am in the same situation. I have found FXCM (UK branch) is currently willing to accept Canadian clients. They are now in beta testing stage of using NinjaTrader, although they do offer MultiCharts.
big mike does not like anything other than intro to be in this thread for newbies to bmt. and i have been notified three times now not to respond in this thread.
however, i do wish you guys looking for broker to just wait it out for a few months before jumping in to trade.
there is nothing wrong trading sim for the time being until you can prove to yourself that you can do it profitably and consistently at least partially any way.
just wait and trade sim for now, pls.

hi i just found a broker that is in the us and has good reviews as far as i can tell i have been researching for quite a while and quite a few of the brokers have negative reviews but i found atc brokers and they accept canadian clients there platform is tradestation 2 which i am not familiar with as well as metatrader 4 .. the only drawback is they have a mnimum account balance of 5000.00 anyone here familar with them i would like to know good or bad thanks chris
I hadn't planned on learning about investing - I started a 401k at work and thought if I just dumped money in it, I'd be fine for retirement.
I did check my balance at the end of Q1 2012, and found out I had made a few thousand dollars - Great!
Then I did a more thorough analysis and found out I made a total of six hundred dollars profit after dumping thousands in over a five year periold. Huh?
Then I looked at my balance at the end of April 2012 and found out they lost four hundred dollars and my money was in a conservative allocation fund!
Then I thought to myself - I can loose four hundred dollars a month all by myself. I don't need professional to help me.
So here I am. I'm hoping to increase my capital and have more control over my retirement funds.
Hi, I have been trying to learn Ninja for about a month now. I have some background in software development (mostly database and web) but not this language. I will be retiring soon and want something to do with the spare time I will have.
Big Mike's is one good place to pick up snippets of code that really speeds up the learning process. So, it will probably be quite some time before I will be able to contribute. But, I will get there.
First I would like to say all the best about futures.io (formerly BMT) forum; thinking this is best place to look for information on trading financial instruments: webinars, alot of members willing to help, great database of information etc.
Well here's my story...
I'm a former bank employee in retail sector, then had a private investment fund which burned down, now I am unemployed and restoring myself piece by piece . I've found here on futures.io (formerly BMT) that psychology is the most important part of trading, then logical trading system and good money management .
As beginner in this business I collected here on futures.io (formerly BMT) threads books on trading, some trader's stories with +5 years of experience and confessions of defeats/lessons learned, trading related one-liners etc.
I want to get the '' Big Picture '' first, I mean I'm not going to learn all the specifics from start . Every new trader should get to his/her head that "Trading is not easy, but it is simple" or "You cannot copy someone else's methodology and expect to be profitable.You need to find a method that works for your trading style and plays to your personal traits" .

My name is Roarke I am 24 and have been studying the markets now for about 7 years. I grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii and am currently living in Honolulu. I have just blew out my first trading account and let me tell you it doesn't feel very good. But the knowledge I have gained trough out the years has been worth it. I think of it as the price to play the game. I currently have $500 to my name and my goal is to turn that 500 into 25k by the end of the year through trading options. Given the volatility in the markets at the moment and the knowledge I have gained over the years I believe this to be possible. I'd like to say keep it real and have fun! Money isn't everything but it ranks right up there with oxygen.

First of all, thanks Mike for this Forum, and everybody for a lot of good advice and good ideas posted.
I'm a beginner trader, living in Madrid, and trading the FDAX with small success. Although I'm new to trading, I'm very experienced in programming so I'm going to try to capitalize that knowlegde somehow into coding automatic systems for trading.
i have been trading in stocks based on fundamental analysis for the past few years, and only recently discovered technical analysis. Would like to learn more, especially on tape reading on understand demand/supply.
