Hello. My name's Tony, and I'm brand new to trading.

Recently read a book called "Paytrading" that was very interesting and I plan to use the strategies in that book as my way of learning how to maneuver in The market.

My girlfriend really is interested in forex and that interest has rubbed off, but 1st I wanna solidify my fundamental understanding of the markets in general.

I haven't chosen a trading platform yet and look forward to the input of the more experienced ppl here in helping me skip past the stupid mistakes so that I can learn from the "smart" mistakes!!

Thanks all!!!

Hi,

I am a trader from India who trades the Nifty Futures.

I have discovered NinjaTrader recently (its a free platform ) and am still finding my way around it. Hope to pester the members around here for guidance as I investigate the platform in depth.

I am not new to technical analysis per se (have used Amibroker in the past) but NinjaTrader is where all the action seems to be!

My background is a bachelors degree in Engineering, and have some coding experience although not in C#.

Hi,

I have been investing in stocks for 14 years alternating between good profits and large losses.

About one year ago I decided to learn more about trading and since then
I have traded stocks, forex, CFD's and a little bit, futures on time frames from 1min charts to 1 week charts.
I have stopped losing money on stocks, but still struggle with the rest.

I'm interested in both systematic and discretionary trading.
I'm using Ninja trader for backtesting, eSignal and Sierra Chart for charting.

Hi all,
Have been trading for 12 years. Futures, Stocks, warrants and fx.
Like the ES and Australian stocks. Aussie spi is terrible (for me anyway).
Use/d metastock, bullcharts, esignal - now look to be changing to NT with kinetick data.
Strictly technical using a little gann, s&r, price patterns and volume. Very few indicators. The simpler the better.
Short term day and swing trading. Struggle holding for the long pull.
Have only recently become consistently profitable (last few years).
2009 (+~40%) and 2011 (+~80%) were my best trading years and 2012 is shaping up very well so far.
My next step (which is how i found this site!) is to create a good trading journal.
I found this out by accident after i began sending emails to a few friends who wanted to know more about the mkt, potential direction, trading possibilities and risk control. I found this improved my trading out of sight.
I am an Australian property valuer. My professional career is currently taking a different path with an aim to include more trading and work less!
Great job on the site Mike. Look fwd to being able to share more when things start to slow down a little for me.
Cheers!

I am a fairly new trader, who has been struggling to allocate some time to trade(the day job won't give me a breather), almost 2yrs. Have not traded much. But mainly influenced by Al brooks book which made sense to me( after multiple reads, of course
I have never met a trader or someone remotely connected to trading, which sucks for me because even basic things take up so much time for me to figure out. But I am very passionate about trading & am willing to put in the required 10k hours to achieve the expertise, cue Mr G.
Hope to trade for a living someday.
This forum looks to me like it is full of real & skilled traders.
I hope to contribute whatever I can, based on any learning's from Mother market
Anyone from South Florida , please feel free to ping me.

Hello fellow traders! Like Mike I too have suffered blown accounts that would make many men cry. Also like Mike I feel that as a success SOMEDAY I will VERY much be a positive element in the world of trading for the community of traders who struggle and for those of you like myself who have been taken advantage of in the process you know exactly what I mean. I have reached the point in my process that I feel I can recognize many of the quirks of the futures market, primarily ES, 6E and CL. I have tried, joined and studied 4 different trading plans, programs/charting systems only to find what has been discussed many times in this forum: It works except when, or if you do this except this, only when the market trends like this but you only know this after the market has closed, etc. This FORUM has helped me avoid some of the marketing approaches that I have been presented through the Ninja Trading groups. I am not ignorant and do understand that MOST who are selling something are selling because they themselves can not make money trading! BUT I feel that with some luck and grace of god that I will find out enough from each of these cure all oil salesman to either put this together myself or find a mate to trade with that has the same burning desire to succeed.
You see in my previous profession I was very successful and taught myself. Once I had it licked I taught everybody and anybody "FOR FREE" who was willing to learn and I am glad to say that SEVERAL had become successful way into 6 figure range for years until OUR GOVERNMENT SCREWED up the business for their corrupt contributors who bought the politicians, OH AND BY THE WAY I WAS HELPING THE POOR NOT BE POOR ANYMORE. I therefore struggle to find a new program in life. I am a natural teacher and love to see others succeed. Being a failure right now is killing me all around!
Little background on my process so far! I bought/educated myself into two separate programs over well over a year ago and blew out my deeply funded accounts of following the PLANS. When I say following the plan I mean that, because even my wife thinks I have become a hermit in my office studying and educating myself at ALL hours and market replay only makes that worse. Any moment I have that is not tied up in commitments is spent trying to figure out what I have not gathered yet.
The problem now is when I approached the next 2 programs I have become live trading shy. I really felt like I had that conquered coming into the year only to see the market go dead and hurt all my confidence since I have focused on trend trading and NO FOLLOW thru in the ES has been all but painful when having what use to be recognizable profit targets not get reached in the timid market then reverse and fade to no profit.
I could go on and on but will tell you this, I had made this commitment over a year ago, "If I can become consistent in profits in trading I will reward society by teaching one individual every quarter as my payback for being so blessed" Thank you Mike for letting me come in this group as part of my information/education process and let it be known that I contribute little now because I have no expertise to provide and am annoyed by those who contribute with none themselves. This business has much more deceit in it than I thought and the last thing people who are honest and dedicated need is contribution from those who actually have nothing good to contribute and worse lies!
