Hi all! I am seeking a better way to trade as I have blown my share of accounts. I hope to find new insights to looking at the market, but I am most of all interested to read about how others have adapted their techniques (and really themselves) to the market. I firmly believe that my biggest obstacle in trading is that I have to better understand myself when trades are going in my favor and against it.

Thanks Mike, hope to learn a lot.

Hi Everyone.
I am from Kazakhstan. I have a very little expirience - only half-year trading stocks.
Wish everyone skill and profit.

Yep hi there,
located in Finland now (have been living in quite different places before) and wanting to be a professional trader. Mostly used OpenQuant and mostly happy with it. Happen to run across Ninja Trader while investigating something interesting and hence ended up here again. Interesting to see the huge communities around Ninja...

I'm new to daytrading but not new to the investment process. I spent 25 years in the mutual fund industry in various positions from; trader, analyst and portfolio manager. With all the recent turmoil in the investment industry I was given a buyout package and decided to take it, so here I am ready to try my hand at daytrading because I'm really not ready to go back to the asset management business just yet. It would be nice to be successful on my own and not have to worry about somebody else telling me "oh geez, you're overweight oil services and that's down big I think you should trim your holding and get back to benchmark weight".

My investment expertise is in basic industry, natural resource, telecommunications and gold companies. I also have expertise in the electric utility and gas utility companies. I'm currently trying to trade the ES and YM index futures and I also do some swing trades in the oil contract.

Here's looking forward to a great 2012,
Stanley

I have spent close to $10,000 in various educational programs on trading plus have read dozens of books and attended dozens of webinars. This is what I have learnt:

1) Don't blow up my account by thinking trading is easy and I know what I'm doing. So far, I'm only smart enough to know that I don't know.
2) Trading is a business and/or a profession and just like I wouldn't expect to become a brain surgeon taking the amount of training I have taken so far, the same is true for trading.
3) To become a (successful) professional trader I have to change a lot of my existing behavior and habits. This will take a lot of exercises and work. On the one hand I compare trading to learning to be a surgeon but on the other hand I compare it to being a professional golfer or professional poker player. It is going to take a lot of hard, dedicated work and it is work on changing me.

I am looking forward to finding others who understand this concept and how much work this will take. I will share all I can, knowing that by giving, I will receive.

After this I will research the various threads to continue this conversation in what might be a more focused venue. If you relate to this short message, please let me know.

Regards

Geoff

Hey Big Mike and the rest of the community. Name's Tim, I'm a futures trader here in Chicago. Been trading for about 5 years now. I'm not a huge fan of most forums, but I interact with a couple. I find it's a good way to keep my brain sharp by thinking about some of the questions posed by other traders. Also a great place to get feedback. Glad to be here.
