Same neck of the woods...

treehousetrader View Post
Hi everyone! I am new to Futures.io, and looking forward to interacting with some like-minded traders. I have been trading since 2009, and I use a combination of Elliott Wave and trend following techniques. Wave C is my best friend! I day-trade crude oil futures via CL and QM, but I also occasionally trade GC, MGC, ES, and MES. I trade from about 4am to 8:30am PST. I use the hourly chart to identify big setups, and then use 3 tick-based charts simultaneously for my entries and targets (like 200/500/1500 for CL).

Looking forward to sharing ideas and learning from the group.

Cheers -

Hey treehousetrader, I am just down the road and across the river from you. The Northwest USA contingent is growing. It looks like you are above the water line on this boat -- good for you. Welcome! --Jeff

aspiring Filipino trader

Hi guys! I live in the Philippines and I would like to day trade. As far as I know, day trading in my country is very difficult due to a relatively low volume and underdeveloped trading systems (shorting cannot be done, a stop loss cannot be set, only limit orders can be placed).
Are there any Filipinos here who are actively trading the PSE or the foreign markets? If so, please reach out to me. I really would like some mentoring, even for a fee..
Thanks in advance.

Howdy!

Did the pennystock thing a few years ago, made a decent amount of money, but hated the emotional swings of discretionary trading (huge stress in the morning). It felt like gambling and frankly, if I'm going to flip coins might as well go to the casino and get "free" drinks while I'm at it. Took my winnings and had a nice christmas, and kept my market interests on the back burner.

I'm a software dev, I read Flash Boys and of course, that got me thinking about retail algotrading. Picked up some books, decided I wanted to start looking at Futures. So I picked up a few Larry Williams books and have now supplemented with Davey and others for the algo/analysis side of things. I'm hoping to finally get serious again next year, but right now am in Information Hoovering mode.

Glad to meet you all and hope to be a productive member of the community.

Seeking success & consistency

Hi,

I have been involved in with the markets and trading for about four years. I have read several books about trading, and I am most interested in futures and options. During this time I have mostly done paper trading of futures. I actively trade options live in some relatively small accounts (I am a fan of TastyTrade and their methods). I have enjoyed seeing success with these accounts.

I have done three combines with TopStepTrader (did not pass, but did improve) and I have come to realize I need a better plan and/or more practice. I like the pressure a combine puts on you, it's not quite paper trading (because what you paid for it is at risk), but not quite your own account capital at risk.

What has really got me fascinated with futures for the past year or so is using order flow methods to trade in and out of the market. I have learned a few methods on understanding the DOM and market/volume profile. I really want to know how successful proprietary traders do it.

I'm currently working on getting the Jigsaw daytradr platform & setting it up to use.

I am currently still in college, studying computer networking & security (....could end up being a network admin, but I would prefer full-time trading ).

Some of my top favorite books I have read, still reading or re-reading about trading:

Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas
Mind Over Markets by James Dalton, Eric Jones, Robert, Dalton
An End to the Bull by Gary Norden
Trend Following by Michael Covel
Option Volatility & Pricing by Sheldon Natenberg
The Option Trader's Hedge Fund by Dennis Chen, Mark Sebastian

I just joined elite membership, I really think this site has incredible, useful content. I want to help support it and use some of the included benefits.

Hey Man...

@root

All the best to you.

Some of those books on your list are industry standards, specifically Natenberg and Dalton.

Also Tom, Tony and all the people at tastyworks are beyond legit.

Thanks for the reply @wldman !

I know the Tasty folks get considerable flak on Youtube and elsewhere (mainly because they are brokers with TastyWorks). But, their research and education just makes sense to me. It is nice to hear a comment about them like that.

Thanks again

Hey...

@root

I know Tom, Scott and Tony. Tony was still on the floor when I was there. ALL of their educational commentary is 100% consistent and legit. Folks might trade differently, but those guys are top notch. Our kids went to HS with Kristi's daughter...her and Tom are locals to me. They are great parents, excellent neighbors and cutting edge business people.

Anyone that finds a way to criticize them, personally or professionally should be discounted. Great people and excellent traders, period.

Yes I watched those guys for daily almost a year and did very well with my account at Tasty. I don't even know why I stopped. Good people and great traders indeed.

And Welcome Root.

Hello Traders!

My name is Jacob and i'm from Poland. I'm part time Economy student and i'm about to get my master degree. Currently i'm working as a backoffice agent in big clothing brand but soon i'm leaving it for running my own IT business.

My trading career started 4 years ago with forex and cfds. I was doing it only as a hobby and additional income (i had some falls, but also a lot of great highlights and in general i'm in big green). This year i decided to start day trading and being entrepreneur on my own. I will try to get funded by one of proprietary trading companies and hopefully share happy story on this wonderful forum.

Thanks for email Big Mike!
It's nice to be here

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum but have been passionate about trading ever since I was 14. Over the years, Iíve researched different methods on and off, but recently I really want to dig into the community and talk with different traders, learn from them. I started a cryptocurrency blog and my goal is to see what people think about the difference between traditional investing and crypto investing.

Weíve grown up thinking investing is just about the stock market but itís evolving to adopt a new form of finance. Even though crypto is over a decade old, itís still considered a relatively new type of investment and trade mechanism.

Anyways, I hope to learn a lot from this community!
