At futures io, our focus is on quality education. No hype, gimmicks, or secret sauce. The truth is: trading is hard. • We firmly believe in and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, we can help you find it.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

Hello

I work construction looking to move onto something a little easier on the body.
I've been fascinated with the stock market my whole life.
I'm still just studying for now.
Plan on trading OTCs

Analytical Skills and Trading

ebiar View Post
I am trying to figure out why i am losing money even with good analytic skills. seems it is not an analytical game

This has been more of a struggle for me than I imagined. I am a professional engineer with good analytical skills but I find that my discipline lapses in the heat of trading. It's the Paul conundrum:

"For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. *Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. *So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. *For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. *For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing." (Ro 7:15–19 ESV)

I seem to be gaining ground by getting grounded in strong technical analysis skills as well as good risk management and focusing on good discipline in all areas of my life. A book I am finding helpful in developing the technical skills is "The Complete Trading Course" by Corey Rosenbloom". It sounds like the diversion could do you some good to step back, do some reading, then approach the markets again with some more/better skills and strategies to ply.

I pray you will catch your 2nd wind and come back stronger!

Welcome, TheHex!

I think you will find some parallels between construction and trading. It takes a while to learn the trade well enough to make money. If there are shortcuts, they seem to save more money than time. And the shortcuts still cost something.

You can find a lot of helpful info on this forum and there are a lot of nice folks providing info and encouragement.

I wish you success in your transition.
