Hi Everyone,

I'm new to futures but I've traded forex (a lot), stocks, and options in the past. I quit trading a few years ago after some big losses and didn't expect to pick it up again...

Then I took a look at my retirement fund and noticed that 1 year worth of earnings disappeared in a week. I realized that if I want a retirement I need to do something.

I could use some help, please.

I am a programmer (not a great one) and over the last 4 months I have been building strategy after strategy to back-test against the E6 (I like the liquidity of the Euro), J6, ES, and CL. I'd like to trade ES and CL but don't currently have the budget. Anyway... long story short, my back-tests all fall short in reality.

Can somebody please point me to a mildly decent strategy that doesn't require constant monitoring of each trade like a guy guarding their dog on "Crocodile Isle?"

I'm not asking about copy-trading or robots, I've been down that road. I just need some good setups and exits for alerts.

As far as the type of trader I am... I love bollinger bands on intraday trading and lately I've been studying volume delta, but I suck at it. My favorite charting platform is Tradingview. Anyone here use that? The charts are beautiful there and easy to use. Pine (their language) is a little wonky though. It has some great points and some great flaws.

Anyway, thanks for your welcome. I have enjoyed reading some trading journals here over the last few weeks (Big Mike keeps reminding me to post... so here I am, Big Mike!)

Take care all. I look forward to reading your replies.

Ryan L.

hello all, I worked at an options exchange and sell side agency trading before trading full time. I trade on TT and CME Direct and use BookMap. My favorite futures are CL, GC, and ES but I've lost money on plenty of other ones

I have done some limited cryptocurrency trading in the past but have no experience with futures. I am hoping to learn more about trading commodities and options on this site.

Welcome to the group! I've been here a couple of years (don't quite remember), but only very active this past few weeks as I transition to full-time trading.

I recommend starting a trading journal once you get started paper/sim trading or live trading. I find it helpful just to do a brain dump at the end of my trading day. The community here is very active and supportive.

Hi!

I have had an on and off interest in Futures trading for quite some time, yet have only messed around with paper trading on ToS. After a hiatus I am back and wanting to take things more serious this time. Living in California, I was often discouraged from getting up early and getting my screen time in due to my sleeping habits. But enough is enough and I have been consistently getting up early enough to paper trade an hour before I head to work.

I look forward to learning from everyone and hope one day I can help someone as well.

Regards,

Cyrass

Hello Everyone.
I just signed up for a lifetime. I hope it's worth it. I have 13+ years clerking/trading on/off the CME floor. I know my charts, trades, technicals and underatand the fundamentals. I just can't seem to get my head on straight. I stay in bad trades, exit good ones. let good trades go bad. Quite a funk I can't seem to kick.
Its just me at home, with no other insight so I'm hoping to get some good information, alternative advice, other tech levels, other traders opinions on similar markets. always interested in learning about new trading strategies.
I mostly trade the YM. the ES sometimes, and then the RTY and NQ.
hopefully Ill find my way around on here but feel free to say hi. id love to get to know a few guys/gals that trade the same markets.
