Hello,
I am 49 years old guy from Eastern Europe living in the UK for 16 years. I started interested in trading in July 2007 and that was just a basic book about trading futures. After that, I had 3 courses about trading - two for intraday indexes and one for spread trading. So for 11 years, I am interested in trading. In 2008 my system was the best week runner on Colective2 web service for selling signals. Especially on this site, I realised that is very difficult to develop a tr. system what will not go to negative figures or works for more than half year.
This idea was broken until I discovered the ES intraday system based on 1 min prediction by “Trading system lab” (1-year license - $20k). In one intraday syste example, the trades ends on break events in the worst scenario for a couple of days or weeks and ten occur a couple of red Stop Losses in backtest (no slippage & commissions). The average for one-day trading was slightly over $1k.
So I focused on the indicators used in the system like wavelet and random walk indicator based on linear regression but they did not work as in the system. The system used the O, H, L, C prices back up to a couple of thousands of bars. And this was the most important information. From this time I was focused for price action patterns on 1-minute charts... But on the intraday scale, there are not many patterns.
To these days I lost about $12k on trading and $ 3k as payments to freelancers for 1.) Wavelet neural network, 2. Recurrent neural network - both for daily prediction based on academic papers; 3. GARCH -ARIMA econometric approach based on 5 min predictions. All 3 ways failed for trading.
Later of the I purchase the Nirvanas pattern trading module for intraday Omnitrader for stocks. This module tests about 200 patterns ( candlestick patterns too) on thousands of stocks on 3 different lengths. The most success rate of all patterns has the Bounce of a trend line - 80- 90 % on one length - nearly double rate over trend line breakout. But the test didn’t include the false break out, so I don’t know if that was part of the Bounce pattern too.
Last year I found that the combination of Break out, False break out and Bounce of a trend line with help of 10 patterns can even do better results than in Trading System lab because it predicts next Close after previous Close and not trade entries on prices of an exact trend line breakouts. In December last year, I discovered the most interesting method for finding next possible price reversal and I believe the method is old like trading charts itself. It manages a possible target - turning points after a break out a trend line on any time frame. Most interesting is the success rate of prediction of the 1st minute of intraday trading for e-mini S&P500- that could be even 2 trades - Long & Short. I have a couple of patterns that run well on time frames from 5 sec to 1 min. They are not described anywhere else, even in Trade Chart Patterns Like The Pros by Suri Duddella on pdfdrive-dot-com.

Last thing about me. It is quite difficult to write a couple rows about me when I start talking in age 5 and I am a sort of self-made man. In my early age, there was not any kind of illness like medium an ASD to diagnose in my country. This is the second trading forum what I enjoyed not just creating an account.

Hey all,

New to the forum, been watching/dreaming about trading for years. Dabbled a little in Penny Stocks y-e-a-r-s ago, played with NADEX a little last year but never fully immersed myself. Still dabbling but making a larger commitment now.

Still in my learning stage, though a lot older than most newbies. Was very intrigued by the Turtle Trader and The Logical Trader books. I signed up for Ninja Trader and am in the process of fine tuning my system. I have a tendency to lean towards day trading but life (job) prevents me from doing so. I'm looking to develop a system that I can use to make daily trades that I can set up in the morning before I go to work, check on once during the day then finish or let roll at the end of my work day. I did recently try using day trading tactics around my work schedule but the volume overnight just isn't high enough for me.

Any way I'm a work in progress... Hi all, looking forward to learning much from this forum and maybe I'll be able to give back in the future as well.

George
