Hi, another newbie here to futures trading. I trade equities only at this time, but thought this would be a good overall trading forum.

Looking forward to learning about futures trading and platforms/systems out there for new traders. Have had some experience in trading Russell 2000 futures and know the basics on trends in day trading this platform. I know there is a lot out there for us to choose from and hope I am able to learn what will work best for me and how others are progressing with their own trading.

Trading from home in Perth, Australia keen to learn fro the Old hands that have been doing this for a while.

Am just about to start my two week trial of mtpredictor and would apreciate some advice from any seasoned user.

I have read and viewed pretty much everything I can find on the internet, but would apreciate broad guidance on which stocks or indices to concentrate on. Some are going to be more prone to movements resulting in Elliot waves than others.

I am using eSignal live for ASX, FX, and London data. What is the overall philosophy for reducing the volume to a manageable level of potentially useful results.

It seems there is a likely hood of having too many results and to waste a lot of time looking through them.

I am assuming all my screening will take place inside Mtpredictor, but how would I filter out the high interest items using Metastock or eSignal ....... volatility ..... volume ...... other....?

Many thanks ...... Martin V

Hello Mike and everyone,

My trading path started years ago when my eye caught online news that a xyz company stock jumped 25% for that day. I have always been in sales and back then I was wholesaling food for 5 to 8% profit per load with a cycle of month – month and half delivery depending on the destination. Now you can imagine the impact on me when I read this piece of information. Since then I started researching stocks and companies in general with my intention one day to try this market. Like everyone I read numerous books, articles attended online seminars and took action to fulfill that decision.

Later when I taught I got enough info to start I opened a demo account and started trading. I kept my day job and traded on the side. Shortly after I saw some positive results I opened a small real account and never knew what happened… I just could not make money. No matter how hard I tried the account gradually melted down. This first experience taught me that the reality of the markets was completely different from what I was expecting. I started questioning what I was reading and doing and realized that I was overtrading and may stops were very tight and taking profits targets were so small – I never let the trades develop.

Fast forward couple of years - I passed through three cycles like that starting with demo after positive results blowing the real money. But these times I was able to grow the real account before I gave it all back. Every attempt and failure taught me something different and showed me a different market prospective. I slowly came to realization that the mental power is above and beyond when it comes to trading. Now looking at the mirror I am trying to change the only one variable that I haven’t completely changed during the countless attempts of shifting and trying everything possible and that is - me.

During the years I started with stocks than moved to forex. Now I am new to futures and I am here to learn from you and develop as a trader. I hope my humble experience can contribute in future discussions and I am grateful to be part of this trading community where shearing and mutual respect are the core values.

I am trading for personal freedom and financial independence - still with my day job and my goal is to be able to transition to a full time trader, have more time for my family and be able to accomplish couple of small projects that I have in my mind.

Trade well and be successful in your life journey!
