Hi everyone and thank you Mike i do not know how much or how often i will be in here. I am finishing a study group with a live institutional trader as the teacher after viewing webinars and going live every day not really any time left. I ran across this site when trying ti find information on ofa charting because the teacher has it and it looks good, but i fiund that it is quite expensive and i can not afford it yet. Anyway i am new to sierra charts and figuring that system out and i am also in a self help group and my main goal is to create positive cash flow as i learn. I have been trying since 2003 traded for 5 full years went bust many times and finally found a teacher that is a winner. Like i said i was planning to get information on ofa charting but the site looked good so i thought i would join and maybe something would come of it.I do not know my way around a computer as well as i should but i am still trying and i will talk to you guys later hope you all have a great trading week.

Biggest thing I can say it to check them out here at Big Mikes (now "future.oi"). I have no experience with DTA, but I know most teachers/rooms are not very reproducible (to say it kindly).

The fact is that everybody will have their critics. But look for openness and that they actually trade. I can make thousands of systems that work on back-testing, paper and simulators.

There are a few good "systems" out there, but the most important part is the psychology. "Psychology" doesn't sell well, so you don't here much hype about it. But the reality is that if you train the psychology right, then you can successfully trade just about any system. If you can't do the psychology right, then no system will be successful (and everybody thinks they will be the one who has the right psychology to start off with.)

A good starting point on the psychology is Mark Douglas' Trading in the Zone (you can get the book or audio). But apply what you learn diligently and don't think that your feelings will change the market. Indicators give a probability on what may happen next. One's PandL is not an indicator (though it appears to be the most popular). Therefore trading depending on your PandL or how you feel is ludicrous (but we have all done it.).
(PS I have watched CFRN.net for years and they are open, honest and keep good records. But it may not be your style)

Thanks for the advice!

I took your suggestion and got Mark Douglas' book and nearing the end I'm only more excited about getting started. Had I known psychology was such a huge part of day trading I would have begun learning about trading much earlier in life as psychology is a passion of mine.

I have held off on giving 3000 dollars to DTA (at least for the time being) because I firmly believe I can learn the information needed right here on these forums and through real life experience.

But I do need some help guys! Where do I learn the absolute bare bone essentials of day trading? Will some of the webinars include a "trading for dummies" so to speak? What I mean by essentials is, terminology, basic theory etc etc. What platform do I start using and how? Things like this.. If the elite membership will help then sign me up!

I hope the people in this community can really help a fellow aspiring trader succeed in making this a passion of mine.

I am writing from Germany. I am an economist and more an investor than a trader. My favourite instruments: currency futures, crude oil, bonds. Thanks, have a great time!

Kindest regards,

Hello,
I'm from Brazil. Not a trader yet but I'm doing my best to become one. I trade Brazilian markets when time allows it.
My trading/business plan is set a deadline to quit my job and have a second try(breakeven on the first try with just one month. Got scared) in july/2016. Until there studying a lot, simulating and backtesting my strategies.
On that second try I will day/swing trade on simulators.Go live just after have consistency or pass on combine and become funded by TST.
6 to 12 months to achieve that. If unsuccessful ... back to my daily job and save more money for a third try.

I have a budget for accomplish the task of put this business on the go, and so far I spent:
$ 100 - futures.io elite membership

Thanks to Big Mike and fellow traders this is one great source of information!

Just wanted to say Hello and let you know I'll be contributing as much as I can. I've been a full time trader and investor since 1982, sounds like a long time ago but it's been a lot of fun. I believe if your going to be good at something, you need to enjoy it, if you don't enjoy what your doing you'll never be good at it. I wake up every day looking forward to trading a new session, and there is always a need to learn something new.

Great place, hope to talk to as many members as possible,
I'm actually know by friends as TraderJ (wouldn't register it), so here I'm BobJ
