Welcome to futures io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Hello Fellow Traders,

My name is Ed. I've been trading the ES consistently since the start of this year. I've lost more than what I would like to admit during the first 8 months. They say that most traders don't last 6 months and I almost became part of that statistic.

About 2 months ago I came across the book "The Disciplined Trader" by Mark Douglas that has made a big positive impact on my trading. I'm no longer bleeding money every week. Instead I'm going through a break-even phase these last 3 months. I never thought how a proper mindset could make such a big difference, always considered that kind of stuff psychobabble. The next thing that stopped the bleeding was money management, I didn't have one during my first 8 months and was the 2nd reason why I lost every week.

I'm looking forward to sharing ideas and also learning from you all. I would say don't take as long as I did to post my introduction (I joined 7 months ago) because there is so much you can learn from this site (from what I can see) that will hopefully prevent you from making the same mistakes that wipes out the rookies by their 6 month of trading.

Good Trading!

Hi there,

My name is Kim. I have been trading for a few years - futures only - mainly CL, TF, GC and NG. I still consider myself a beginner as I have not been able to achieve the consistency required to achieve a steady income from trading. Just recently I joined a new company and chart room that has a unique approach to the market and trading. I feel like I have had a bit of a break through with this new system. I look forward to increasing my knowledge by regularly visiting this forum.

My trading life...

Hi all,

I have been trading on and off for 14 years. Only in the last 3 years have I really devoted myself to it. I have traded Aussie stocks, US stocks, US stock options, futures, warrants, forex, forex futures, gold, crude. Not much I haven't tried. Now I exclusively trade the ES and US stock options. I seriously underestimated the work required to be a consistently profitable trader. However, I am happy I did start the process, it has been an extremely tough journey, banging my head against a wall until I'm almost ready to give up, then trying something else. My consistency is still patchy, but I'm so close I can smell it.

Here's to all of us improving together!

Aloha from Hawaii

Futures Edge on FIO
JCHAWAII here. I live on the North Shore of Hawaii, been living the dream for 50 years here (they haven't caught me yet). I make surfboards, surf a lot, have a great family and for the last few years have been getting up at 3 am (that really sucks) to trade futures. getting better all the time but still spotty.. Made a 180 ticks on CL today but those days are rare and I usually give it back to the market later

...still a journeyman trader but just like the one guy, I can smell success

Hi. I'm programmer with a primary interest in forex. Looks like I'm going to find this place pretty interesting.
Traded since 09 with a long break from 2011 to August of this year.
Started with stocks, moved to options, then forex, and fell apart with futures Summer 2010. Forex is my home for now due to its capital flexability and available API's (my primary forex broker made a free one).
