Welcome to

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Just wanted to say hello. I've been trading since 2007. Was holding my own trading daily charts and got hung out to dry with the PFG thing. So I have been teaching myself how to day trade on lower timeframes to keep the account smaller to avoid that happening again.

I like the CL and the TF on volume charts so I'm pretty interested in Tuesdays webinar, thanks to whoever is responsible. My style or preferences would be S & R, price action and I use a supper Slow CCI, (actually the original number the creator used) only for confirmation. Thanks for the wide ranging blog Big Mike and again Hello

mfbreakout, I may not have as much experience posting on this forum, but I generally try to refrain from presenting my own opinion/beliefs as facts. There are other ways to trade apart from yours (which, to be honest, doesn't make sense to me). So considering what Zolt was actually asking about, there is no need to discuss your limited personal experience as it has no relevance. Anyone can do the numbers for return and capital required.

Zolt, two points:

The returns you want to make from trading (especially steady) are only possible after the fact. What I mean is, they are achievable, but you definitely cannot plan for them. People who trade for living always prepare for worse. No-one knows if next month or even year will be profitable. I'm sure you've heard this before, the only thing you can focus on and control is your process.

I don't have doubts you can make it in trading, unfortunately no-one can tell you when. Your goal of supporting family while not being profitable at the moment, makes things much more difficult. It's up to you to decide if you want to expose your family to that kind of risk. While you may think risk is calculated, you need to consider what your worst case is. If you don't mind going through your savings and still not making money trading, and you can easily find a job that will pay enough then, maybe, you just need to keep pushing and learning from your own experience.

I don't know how long your savings can last or how big your trading capital is, but there may be one more thing for you to consider. You could use your capital to increase your cushion and try to get funded by a firm. It will give you more piece of mind and, even though there is a profit split, the size of capital a firm can provide will not require you to make 30% yearly to make a living. As always, think for yourself.

Hi isla,

I just wanted to say thank you for the idea of getting funded. I found a funding firm's website, and some actually profitable traders, so it convinced me!
Actually, that's what I've been looking for: a proof that it can be done. Believe or not, I'm more confident now, thanks again!

Hi All,
I googled for popular trading forum sites and this came up. It's seems like a pleasant place to be.
Although, I am only here to sell my charting program license which I just posted. It focuses on Volume Spread Analysis.
I feel it's a valid methodology for trading. Yet it is not the normal "indicator" trading such as Stochastics, SMA, Trendline.

I am in another business now and decided to part with the software to recoup my investment.

Best to all,

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for creating a great site. I've been reading various posts for a bit, this is a great resource for a beginner like me.

I'm looking to learn how to improve my trading and adjust appropriately.

Futures Edge on FIO

What happens to the S&P 500 when a new President takes office?

I've been trading full time for 8 years now. I run a small trading company that does reasonable volume. Sometimes I've posted in another forum but I'm not sure it's been worth the effort so I'd like to try here. There are some few things I know a lot about and many things about which I know nothing.

I hate seeing people get scammed and have no problem giving my opinion about such if asked.

Hi All!

Hey just joined... Started trading stocks about a month ago. Found myself wanting to see what was to the right of all the current stock charts. lol. I am not trading on a daily basis as I have a day job, but still want to learn.

Thanks Mike.

Have just joined the site. Have several years trading stocks, commodities, forex and futures. My main interest these days is quantitative finance. I also like developing and researching investment modelling/backtesting tools.

Good luck to everyone with their trading.

Another Newbie in the Mix

Just wanted to quickly say, I am glad to be here and start learning. My goals (which are very miniscule to some) are:
  • Learn the ins and outs of setting up and sim trade with Ninjatrader
  • Finding an appropriate market to practice on
  • Find a fairly strong trading strategy to try AND stick with it

I know that there is a world of information in this forum just from browsing around. I look forward to participating and making friends.
