Yes, I bought my first stock in 1982. Since then I've made alot and lost alot. When I retired early at the age of 52 that was in 2004 and I had plenty of cash in the accounts to last us forever. Then 2008 came along and proved to me that I had no idea what I was doing in the stock market even though I'd been in it for almost 20 years. So I started to learn.
Here we are in 2013 and it feels like the pieces are in place for a solid performance for the next 30 years of trading/investing.
BUT...there are still missing pieces and perhaps I can find them here, Also it would be great if I can in some way help some younger traders find their own path and possibly even prevent some of the big mistakes that I have made over the decades.
What I have traded are stocks, etfs, funds, cefs, and futures. What I'm trading now are stocks, etfs, and cefs.

A lot of people in the same boat. I try to keep a balance to my positions ( long and short the market at the same time). Seems to work pretty well for me.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

I'm an intraday futures trader, focusing on 6B. Taking the next 6 months to trade full time as my results have shown enough consistency to dedicate more time to trading. Looking to get into 6J and CL as they seem to respond well to my strategy's 'style', so if anyone wants to trade some knowledge drop me a PM!

Thank You Big Mike and all participants, I have been trading stocks and options on a limited basis for about 10 years and have yet to see a real profit. I feel the time has come to take this to another level and hope to benefit from the years of experience you all have to offer. In return I promise to stay focused and disciplined and share anything worthwhile that I come across, Gina
What a fantastic site to have stumbled upon. After lurking for a few weeks, I knew it was time to join.
I'm a part time (read: amateur) trader. I started in 2007 as a traditional buy/hold investor... just as things were truly getting very shaky! But since 2008, I've slowly found my way into options... buying and then later selling. And for the last year I've been trading options on futures-- mostly selling.
I look forward to learning from some of the great contributors on here!
I'm slef-developped fulltime trader and so far traded price action patterns I noticed and tested by myself. I trade purely on EUR/USD - basically working whole day with 7-12 trades per day in average 5 days a week.
I'm trading without stoplosses and in both directions buy/sell - time to time I'm using hedges on few open positions but it happens rarely - basically 2-4 times year.
When I started two years ago, I made my 1st +100% within first 3 months, then I doubled account again after another 3 months so I felt like a king. Within that time I felt really relaxed and did also some good positional trading so I understand the power of relaxed and consistent psychology.
However, when you start and you are from the begin so profitable, it is very hard to keep your discipline and focus. I did not big time frames analyses precisely and in September last year, my nightmare has started as I was forced to close my first huge stoploss position: cca -30% of account I earned so far and at the end of 2012 another -20%. Since that time my psycho works against me and all the year I'm constantly loosing in a pattern: I earn +20% on top of my account (it is slower as I lowered size of my positions dramatically), but after two months I usually take a stoploss which take all the profit back, plus some small portion of account. Irony is that cca within 2-4 days after my take of stoploss market turned back. This had happened 3 times to me this year. I decided to change my trading dramatically and tried to find the way which I can go further and stay in markets. I found that I need to learn basics again and understand really what the market is doing when I'm looking on charts, as I was constantly missing signs of ranging vs. trending markets. I've got already some ideas so I hope this site can help me to adjust my methodology and rebuild correct and consistent approach to trading.
As there's a lot of crap on internet about trading, I noticed that your site looks different and I hope and want to believe that it really is extraordinary. So thank you for your welcome and request to introduce myself.
