The markets are all correlated to risk on or risk off, plus individual economic factors. With FX the key pairs follow the lead from the market most dominate at the time of day, and then the individual sovereignty. For example...the Aussie could be following the Asian markets, but then take a turn from a monetary related issue, like an employment number (probably be a little undecided until the number comes out). Getting used to the times to trade FX is as important as the pair to trade. You can trade both but when the CME opens, to ignore the depth of market, would be like flying a plane without instruments IMO....

The ES (S&P 500 mini) does not lead the market when Asia or Europe are trading...they lead the ES.

Lots of screen time is of great benefit. These guys that are good here are all following the the big movers...the Asian markets, then the DAX, the ES, Gold, Oil, the treasuries....

Does that help?

That was very helpful and the reason why I joined this forum because I was treading water on my own.

Couple things to bounce off you:

-- My forex data feed with TradeState is free and doesn't include equities, or futures, so I'm thinking based on what you're saying is I need to pay for the futures feeds so I see the DOM. Would you agree with this statement?

-- The other thing is based on what I been reading about the FX connection with futures, I've got a CME membership in order to review reports. One thing that attracted me to the forex spot market is the volatility and extreme reversals but I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off looking at fx futures?

I believe that political correctness can be a form of linguistic fascism, and it sends shivers down the spine of my generation who went to war against fascism.

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum, getting back to trading the ES. Took time off for a messy divorce.
Used to use esignal with the advanced get package. Used EW, and Fibs mostly.

Trying the free demo of Ninjatrader get get back into the swing of things. Looking at the cumulative delta / volume delta indicators on other platforms, as I always like reading the tape. If anyone has great pointers to share or downloads please email me.

Thanks!
Scott

Hi everyone,

I just joined. Am trading ES, CL and some forex. Have been trading the last few years teaching myself, now trading fulltime. Looking to meet other traders, especially in my area. Like to find out about other peoples methods and about any good genuine trade rooms. Trading is a lonely game as they say. Am still not where I want to be trading, as far as consistancy yet, but am striving towards my goal. I hope 2013 is a great trading year for me, and everybody on here.

There's some discussion on this topic here, perhaps we could take this discussion there for the benefit of others and to get you some responses from experienced FX traders...

Actually i hope you don't mind but i took your quote over there to that thread in hopes of getting some discussion re-ignited on the topic.

Cheers,

That's very much appreciated. I wondered myself about the suitability of having the off-topic discussion in this thread. I'll pop over there and see how it going.

Thanks

Hi,

I have been trying on and off to make money trading for a long time without much success. Having said that I haven't lost a lot either.
After many years of starting and stopping trading its time to really give it a good go and see if I can make it work or quit.
(This could prove difficult as I may be addicted.)

I'm mostly interested in designing systems (preferably automated). I'm using NinjaTrader and I definitely need to learn more Ninja Script to try out my ideas.

I'm hoping to get support from this forum to finally make something of this trading thing, and hopefully I can help others too.

My name is Sean Kozak and I am the founder of "The Elite Trading Coach". I have been trading for little over 5 years and have had many successes as well as roadbloacks. I love working with new traders and I have had the privelage of learning from many greats in the industry.

Hello,

Excited to join futures.io (formerly BMT) and hoping it is the community I've been looking for.

I have had an interesting journey through trading the last 2.5 years, and have come to some understandings about what trading is, and what it isn't. Stepping back to really observe how price trades and how it gets there has put me on a lucrative track that was long drowning in frustration and loss.

I enjoy simple things, college athletics, and spend too much time on the computer.

Glad to be here,

Ronin

Hi! I'm Nicolas from Argentina. I'm new to trading (about a month ago), and I'm very excited to learn and start doing it (FOREX). I've been reading some trading books (I'm about to start on Technical Analysis by John Murphy and Trading in the zone), and I'm going through babypips's school. This year I've started playing poker with good results (winning constantly on NL2, the lowest level) after months of practicing and studying the game, but I got kind of bored. I believe my short experience with poker will help me here, as both require patience, money and risk management, and focusing on the long term.
I'm planning on reading those books, and finish the babypips school before I trade on a demo account (I'm between oanda and FXCM) and hopefully I'll get some good consistent results and I can start trading live!
Any recommendations are appreciated! I'll be checking out the forum now!
Thanks!
Nicolas
