Nice ! Thanks Big Mike for the tip its easy for me to get on a travel log I love to travel

Regarding the other Items you mentioned Yes to trade CME products you will need a Margin account with a broker.
There are commissions and National Futures association fees that dont seem obvious with forex but with a discount account
I still think its a lot better than fighting the dealer as you would be with spot forex.

Id be happy to talk with you more about that. Anytime is fine with me but its late where you are so tomorrow is just fine
as well.

I had some CME forex links somewhere and I will look for them to post.

Howdy all I have been lurking for awhile. Now for my brief introduction.

My trading goals & beliefs:
I am working on a few ATS, DISCIPLINE, and SIMPLIFYING - my systems have been to complicated.
I'm primarily a trend follower. I win some, I lose some, I have blown up a few accounts. Every time I learn more.

And that's what is amazing about this place, so much to learn. The generosity and support around here is incredible.

Thanks
Erik

Yes Its easy to get over complicated with "helpful" Indicators" I have a good example of a 5 min simple set up using
a moving average that you might like to check out just as a thing to reference when you are using your own set-ups
just let me know have a great day !

Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself.

While I have been buying stocks for a few years, I took an interest in technical analysis and started paper day trading only about 6 months ago.

While i am not able to make money consistently yet (paper money anyways ), I am very motivated to spend the time and do whatever necessary to make a living from trading. I am in a position where i will not need my current day job in about 6 months, so I find this goal realistic as I will not be under serious time and/or financial pressure. I do realize by now however, that it will be a lot harder than i first thought it would.

At this point I am only trading the NQ , using 2 time frames (200/600 or 300/900 ticks) with indicators such as Mas, stochastics and Macds. The method is from Barry Burn's TopDogTrading. I like the NQ for its decent volatility and low cost per tick in comparison to other futures trading vehicles. I am also open to new ideas however

I have also been reading quite few books, as for example, Trading the Zone (Douglas), High Probability Trading (link), Reminiscences of a stock operator, Market Wizards, and a few more.

Again, I am always open to other recommendations from more experience traders.

So anyways, this is where i am am after about 6 months. I found out about Big Mikes while I was looking for custom indicator for my NT platform and decided to register as it appears to be a great community.

Thanks for reading,
Renaud

I'm a newbe on that field here, just traded fx for the the last 1,5 years with a small account and on the paper. So, I'm a beginner, but I didn't lose much money, because I just followed rule #1. But the goal is to make my living.

Hey Welcome, I am new to this forum too, just posted above you.

I used to work as a consultant near Graz, in Uebelbach, very nice area. I have the same goal you do, which is making a living from trading. I am making good progress but not quite there yet after a few months of practicing.
Anyways feel free to skype me at renoschmitt if you want chat about trading. I am a futures guy but interested in FX too, just taking it one step at a time

I've been trading full-time for the past 6 months from Bangalore, India.

I trade the US E-minis, FDAX, FESX and major currency futures during the US market hours.

I've been profitable over time, but it's harder than any job I've ever had!

My biggest hurdle was to let profits run and not second-guess myself.

I've settled into a good rhythm with using a solid mechanical system with a positive expectancy.

I accept that there are systems/methods with a higher expectancy, but my system suits my personality and emotions.

I've been spending most of my time in the psychology/money management section of the forums, while waiting for trades to setup.

Thanks,

Anand
