Need help? 1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first. 2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses. 3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make. 4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance. 5) Where to start as a trader? The following user says Thank You to Big Mike for this post:
I am restarting my trading career after a 20 year hiatus. My background is in software so I wrote my own trading platform connected to eSignal. I have a 3 month experiment tweeting all my trades in real time through my trading platform so I don't need to think about it or get tempted to leave any out.
You could say I'm a home run hitter - meaning I can go for weeks and break even, than get 20 pts in a couple days - mostly ES. I know this is contrary to the 'conventional wisdom', but it worked well for me in the 80's and 90's. But things have changed and I may have to adapt.
I like to hear smart ideas about trading; and give my own opinions freely.
Dear all, I consider myself a newbie with some limited experience in crude oil (the only focus). Many thanks for allowing me to be a member of the forum. Hopefully I can participate in a constructive way. Meanwhile, out of some adverse circumstances to be thankful for actually, I am now using NinjaTrader v7. Love it. James
I'am from India and traded only Nifty index futures.Hoping to enter eminis and demo trading this for a while.Trading in US markets is what that suits my style of Price Action. So started looking for some feed backs and got to this amazing forum.Nice thread and lot to read about.
My name is Gary. I have been trading the CL for about a year now. I've lost a lot of money participating in a few different trade rooms. It seems that every trade "Guru" I've run into is a scam artist, or delusional about being a successful trader, and being able to teach others. I take full responsibility, since I should have known better, but I tend to trust people's word.
I hear that only 10% of day traders are successful, so I know enough to know that I won't be successful at this early stage, unless I follow a successful trader's trades and learn from them. I'm wondering are there any honest and successful trade rooms out here on the Internet?
I'm not looking to get rich, even making minimum wage would be a huge help to me. I just need to find a trade room, or trader, that is the "real deal".
Did some scalping a few years back.....it went ok for a few months, nothing spectacular, but it was paying my rent ($400/month)and my trading fund was increasing, slowly but surely...........then Bang........all gone (about $3000) in one spectacularly bad session....now 6 years later I am ready to get going again, but this time I am taking the time to educate myself properly and find a decent fit for my style and ambitions.....which is to make $500 per month...........so thanks Mike and everyone for the opportunity to look over your shoulders........
Yo Gary: I've only been day trading a year and I feel your pain. To many gimicks. This is a great link....you"ll get plenty of good advice & direction. I personally only trade currency's...The EURO being my favotite. Wish you luck in your future trades. Ron
