Hi Big Mike and Trading Gurus,

I am new here and I've lost money which I've cried about in the last five years
and I'm still no closer to being a Trader. At the moment I'm day trading
or trying to day trade stock options in Australia, it is not easy. I've done a course and
have been trying this for a year now and even though I've not lost money in the last year,
I've not made any as yet. Last week I stumbled on one of your threads Mike on the internet
wherein I saw the below guidelines for day trading and for the life of me cannot find the
page now, I didn't save that page to my favourites at the time. It goes something like this.

Prior days High & Low
Current week High & Low
Current weeks S1 Pivot & R1
Prior weeks S1, Pivot, R1

I calculated the pivots above and can see some relevance to them in relation to price movement of stocks in OZ,
but I am interested to see your whole strategy. Could you please point me in the right direction.

Thank You
Iamhere

Hello , I have been trading futures for about 3 years now. I started trading the ES with a 1 to 1 risk/ reward ratio and learned the hard way through losing about half my account in the first year. That I needed to change the way I was trading. So for the last 2 years I have been trading a trending strategy using faster charts, I started trading with 5 min charts and now use 1 minute or 200 tick charts, only using the 5 minute chart for overall direction. My trades typically last from seconds to 15 minutes. I use simple charts 50ma for trend direction and a stochastic indicator to time my entries on the turns. I am new to this site and hoping to learn from some of the great talent here.

Hi to All

I have been trading for over 10 years using e-signal. I recently changed to think or swim. As with any change in software I found some areas missing and thought this site might be of help in filling in the missing items with think or swim. For example, I frequently use Fib Extensions and prefer to draw them myself. Hopefully, the solution is here.

Looking forward to being a regular.\

Rick

Hello Fellow Traders,

My journey in a trading jungle started in August 2008..Since RE market was crushing in CA: I decided to diversify...

Being a girl and achieving few things in my life: I came into trading with open and very naive mind: I signed up for Trading Academy Classes ( what a...).. never in my wildest dreams I imagined that Trading World can be so full of endless lies and scams..My accounts were blown up by my so called " teachers"...Endless scams in FX and software junk..Enough said..

Finding surprising passion and love for the game, losing sleep, shedding endless tears and lots of money, scrumbling last few dollars: I shut everything and everyone down, said my prayers, turned on Pandora, and started reading Naked Charts.:God answered my prayers: I was blind and now I can see...I trade TF and have aboslutely nothing on my charts. I do my own thing with Fibs and waves..and it works..

I know, that God can take this away at any moment, but I am Finally Enjoying The Ride. Just hope: it will last!.My only company are Mozart and Bach. Look forward to our journey. Mad About Trading. Laguna

Hello everyone,

I live in the Greater Metropolitan Detroit area of Michigan, working for an automotive software company (supporting production & shipping). I am trying to utilize the stock market to obtain a financial monetary stream to further my retirement; thus allowing me to pursue other personal interests, rather than just stay on the treadmill of employment.

A very close friend & I have been exploring automated/manual trading ideas trading the ES mini on TradeStation's SIM account. I have traded live numerous times with success, yet in the final results lost money!

I found this forum while searching for the PBF Squeeze indicator. I would like to use this indicator as an additional confirmation tool for our Voted Strategy.

Looking forward to discussions within your forum community and improving my trading ability to reach my personal goals.

Thank you Big Mike for this forum,

paulw517

Hi Everyone:

I guess I should introduce myself. I have been trading commodities for over 40 years (I guess I just gave my age). I started right after college working with my Father who had traded for over 60 years usually in the metals and some grains. Since I had three kids to support and send though college, I took a detour for about 35 years and played engineer and senior executive in the semiconductor industry. Starting in 2003 I retired to Monterey, CA and went back to trading full time. Boy, did it get less expensive since the last time.

Since the fees were so low I started to day trade with TradeStation and got killed!!. As my 6 figure account blew up, I tried to figure out what I did wrong. I quickly discovered that I made all of the mistakes that a "rookie" would make and totally forgot everything my late Dad showed me. Well, since I had all his papers I then did a re-set and started to trade with less emotion and more automated procedures. I even have a sign on my computer that says, "if you touch it you die!!!"

Well, the last 12 years or so have been fun, frustrating, and very rewarding. I now am a fully licensed CTA/CPO by the NFA and registered with the CFTC. I have been managing a "hedge fund" (actually a commodity pool) that I started April 1, 2010 with a small 6 figure investment from friends, myself and family. Now the pool is in its 12th month of trading and has done quite well. It now has a asset level slightly south of $1M and is nicely profitable for the year.

My purpose in joining this forum is to find assistance in computer programming, since I do this on my own. The methods I employ are too proprietary to allow any other programmers to work on it. I know I am paranoid, but that is the way it is.

My expertise is in the area of running a public commodity pool, raising funds and as a swing trader. I certainly am a disaster when it comes to day trading.

I will be looking for assistance in programming in the following areas:

C# since TS has migrated to some OOP capabilities.
Trade filters.

I look forward to participating!!

Hello everyone. Thanks to Mike for making this forum possible. I'm a newcomer who stumbled across Mike's forum while doing a Google search for ThinkorSwim(TOS) script. My nick pretty much tells the whole story, I am basically TOS illiterate. I don't have any experience with any of the popular trading platforms mainly because the learning curve seemed just too steep, not having any backround in computer languages or script writing and not having eons of time to learn. But when TDAmeritrade offered TOS for free to its customers I thought I had to give it a go. I don't know how many TOS'ers are here but hopefully enough to teach me something!! I don't want to bore anyone with my trading experiences but to keep it brief I've been engaged in the markets for probably 20 years one way or another. Starting out with 401K plans and IRA's. I currently only have and trade with retirement accounts. I consider myself a conservative investor having a fair portion of my funds in mutual funds and dabbling in stocks, etf's, or most recently options with some of the remainder. Over the years I can honestly say I've not made a dime trading.(sorry to say) The funds are still recouping from the massive sell off in '08. Needless to say I wasn't paying close enough attention nor did I know how to protect myself in a down market. Kept thinking the bleeding would stop, but it didn't, and I went down with the ship. Anyway, I'm here for various reasons; just like all of you. Its nice to be able to discuss and share trading ideas with others, because frankly none of my friends or co-workers are as interested in the market as I am. I subscribe to and attempt to follow William O'neils IBD philosphy. It's one of the few news sources I've found that portrays pertinent mark information. My main goal at this time is to be able to scan top rated IBD stocks (or potentially others) for periods of consolidation and buy or sell the breaks. For a guy who is TOS illiterate I suppose thats a lofty goal. But I'm hopeful, with some help, I can learn.

I trade index options credit spreads and when possible, pair them up to fly in Iron Condor formation. I have been making my living doing this since Aug 2, 2010.

I have been maintaining a trading journal on some other forums and would be willing to do so here as well if there is some interest. The journal contains some information on my strategy. I frequently publish my trading plan before the market opens and publish a trading summary after the market closes.
