After blowing up a couple of accounts with forex, I have decided to look at automated trading of futures with NinjaTrader. It's just that I'm crap at holding my nerve!
So here I am again, trying to figure out how Automated trading works (don't get me wrong, I have been suckered into paying for a couple of EAs for MT4 only to have them strip my account faster than I could. And I was efficient at draining my account!)
If anyone can point me in the right direction as to how I can start with this task (producing a good looking EA) I would appreciate it.
Anyway, it's nice to be aboard and I hope that I can learn along the way and perhaps help people out at the same time.
Welcome to all new traders and members! Glad to have you here.
I look forward to reading your posts.
Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.
Need help? 1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first. 2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses. 3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make. 4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance. 5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers. 6) Help using the forum? Watch this video to learn general tips on using the site.

coming from Germany, for already more than 13! years I work as a self-employed project-manager in the IT sector for big companies (mainly telecommunication, energy, banking, outsourcing, customer service).
Within the last few years I tried to make additional money with unprofessional stock-picking, looking for tips and systems and always lost money (not too much - but as y'all may agree, losing money always hurts ).
As I know that I can't do my actual job for the rest of my life (much traveling, stressful, family etc.), last year I decided to stop all that unprofessional "trading"-activities and learn it from scratch. Since then I think it becomes better and better, but still isn't on a satisfying level for me - so that's why I'm here.
Background Information: I'm trading Forex and Futures (mainly index, not commodities), my broker is InteractiveBrokers and at the moment I try to do my best with Ninjatrader, which is still a fight for me, although I have affinity to software development. I'll look foward how this will work within the near future.
Kind regards, Sven
PS: please don't hesitate to ask questions as I will do too.
I just joined MDF and I look forward to contributing to this forum. I'm a Ninjatrader user with IQfeed and my brokerage account is with Interactive Brokers (IB).
I've been trading off and on for about 10 years. I've never really had a chance to sit down and trade the market during the daytime since I was working full-time as a Mechanical Engineer. I recently just got laid-off from my job so I'm looking to spend all my waking hours on making trading a success now.
I've been a member with Elitetrader.com, but is appears with the content on this website, I'll be spending the majority of my time here, learning and helping other traders fullfill their potential.
Hello all! I am new here and new to posting on any web-site, so I hope this is in the right place. After checking this great place out and partaking in the great free downloads, it is nice to finally find a group that really seems to be out to help fellow traders rather than just out to help themselves. I have not "tossed" my account yet, but I have blown well over $20K on programs, courses, and you guessed it gurus. The best results I have got are from people and sites that charge little or no money. THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK MIKE AND YOUR KILLER SITE!!!!! I will becoming an elite member soon.
The following user says Thank You to Rayzor for this post:
I have been trading for two years now mostly trading futures & using Ninja with Interactive Brokers. I have found this forum very interesting & most informative. I been taking courses with DTI group & participate with their chat room & would recommend them to anyone starting out trading.
