TINA

TINA is an acronym for There Is No Alternative, and refers primarily to a Market Environment where portfolios have to turn to stocks in order to earn a good return, because other asset classes do not offer one.

Central Banks often are the cause, having held rates so low that there is no other alternative than to purchase stocks.

The result is described as the Tina Effect whereby stocks rise due to no other viable alternative.

Herbert Spencer coined the phrase.
